It is not surprising that that there are few recent posts in civil liberties. As a moderate, quasi libertarian, definitely not democrat; I find it odd that few members here have comments about civil liberties. For one, Obamacare is the biggest law that attacks our civil liberties. As is arrest for marijuana use, addiction to prescribed drugs. We incarcerate more people for non-violent crimes than any other Nation. Perhaps that is due to our private Prison system. You shepple need to stop voting for dems and repubs and start voting for libertarians who stand for restoring our individual rights, less federal government control/growth and less U.S. occupation in foreign Countries. Restoring control to the States, restoring control of Schools to local government, state and voter control.
Libertarians will never win government. Sure, you might get the occasional outlier, but Libertarianism is a philosophy for individuals, not governments. Politicians cannot use the end of their employment as a means to the perks of office. The left/right dichotomy is a much more effective means to that end. Libertarianism is more so in competition with ethical theories than political ones. Consequently, a very small segment of the population will ever accept it.
