Nuclear weapons paradox

    Are nuclear weapons really a deterrent? Yes and no. Two superpowers are less likely to engage in conflict against each other but the rest, less secure.

    i would say nuclear weapons deter full scaled wars amongst nuclear powers but actually facilitate wars against non-nuclear powers

    Take ukraine. Putin knows threat of nuclear annihilation will stop US from engaging in a war to defend ukraine so he is using this to facilitate an invasion. Without nuclear weapons, putin would face possibility of US joining the war..

    so funny enough, nuclear weapons make it easier to engage in wars when superpowers choose to abuse non-nuclear powers. Now know why everyone wants nuclear weapons?
