I hope you're right. I don't live in NY, but I'd vote for her if I could. :)

Really disgusting commentary about AOC, who I see as a dedicated, caring person trying to do something good for the country & the people she represents.

And your point is what exactly? Are you trying to claim blacks were not part of the New Deal Coalition or are you saying backs did not get CCC or WPA jobs? If so you are totally wrong. If you want to refute me refute what I actually stated.

What Congress does not need is more members who want to spend money like drunken sailors.

There are a lot of Trump supporters who need to be kicked out. They passed these budgets for the last two years with the largest deficit spending in history. Dems voted no.

She is NOT a Maoist. She's a Democratic Socialist, who cares for the people she represents. The difference with her is she represents the middle & lower classes rather than the wealthy class, which most other politicians represent.

Look how democratic socialism ended up in the Soviet Union about a year after the revolution.

The Soviet Union NEVER had Democratic Socialism & has very little chance of ever having it. The Russian people are a good people, but they have never experienced real democracy, and their leaders have always been tyrants. They can't be expected to start supporting what they have never experienced and can't imagine as a society.

    Never? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mezhraiontsy

Social Democrats believed that they could combine socialism with democracy, without any centralized state nationalization of property.

Your post supports my often stated contention that, 1. communist states are NEVER democratic, and 2. Russia has NEVER experienced a viable, functioning democracy that didn't get upended by tyrants.

She and idiots like her are the new face of the Democrat party. A new brand of ignorance and intolerance had begun, I just wonder if it will rival the Democrat's Klan days?

They still need to work thru comments like these...

“I do not buy the concept, popular in the ’60s, which said, ‘We have suppressed the black man for 300 years and the white man is now far ahead in the race for everything our society offers. In order to even the score, we must now give the black man a head start, or even hold the white man back, to even the race. I don’t buy that.”

    or this jewel...

“I don’t feel responsible for the sins of my father and grandfather. I feel responsible for what the situation is today, for the sins of my own generation. And I’ll be damned if I feel responsible to pay for what happened 300 years ago.”

    ^ From a soon-to-be-donk candidate.

Wrong. There are many versions of socialism around the world, and even more theoretically possible. The word "Democratic" coupled to the name represents a form of socialism that strives to maintain & protect human rights & freedoms more than some others might do. Here in America, based on the goals of our Democratic Socialist leaders, Bernie Sanders & AOC, this is certainly the case.

You can defend American capitalism's policies that continue enriching the rich at the expense of everyone else, but that doesn't make it an acceptable outcome to a growing number of Americans. America is supposed to support EVERYONE'S dreams--yours & mine. But American capitalism has been hijacked, and now serves only the wealthiest among us. I'm not advocating making them enemies of the state, but I am advocating finding reasonable ways to allow more average Americans to benefit from our nation's constantly growing wealth.

FDR was even more racist than that racist Woodrow Wilson was.

And still you don't understand capitalism. Capitalism cannot make anyone richer at anyone else's "expense". In order to get rich in capitalism, you have to provide a product other people want to buy at a price they want to pay for it. Capitalism creates wealth, it doesn't steal it. Our nation's "constantly growing wealth" comes from poor and middle class people creating businesses and becoming wealthy. That's who makes our country rich. And that's who should get to keep the lion's share of any wealth they create, the creators of that wealth. No one else has any claim on it. No one else has any right to it. It's theirs and theirs alone. The only person responsible for making your dreams come true is you. Rich people have no obligation to you. None. If you want to help the "average American", stop ****ing importing millions of low-wage workers. That will drive wages up considerably. As I've already pointed out before, wages for the average American have been flat since 1970, about the time we started taking in a million low-wage immigrants a year, thanks to the 1965 law. High tech workers' wages have been flat, too, because of the H1B visa program that allows Silicon Valley to import cheap high tech labor from China and India. Get rid of that one, too.

Everyone in every generation before the 1960s in America (except for a few individuals) were racist, including our Presidents. J.F. Kennedy & his brother Robert were both racist when the Civil Rights issues first arose. Both men, along with a majority of Americans, were gradually changed by the events of the Civil Rights Movement, which culminated with the Civil Right Act of 1965. That law literally DID change America for the better. It had a huge impact that has lasted from then until between 2010 & 2016. Now we're witnessing a regression happening in race relations--something I had hoped would never happen. But I still believe the majority of Americans still honor & abide by the CRA of 1965. I know I do. I'm hoping the racial turbulence we're experiencing now will abate after Trump is trounced in 2020. :)
