You don't even know how the Marketplace works, do you? How can anybody take a criticism of obamacare from you seriously if you have no idea of even the basics

 

I have news for you. I didn't participate in the design of Obamacare.

What I'm saying is that both Democrats and Republicans are to blame. Republicans for designing it, and Democrats for trying to work with Republicans instead of passing a real solution.

Now... are you trying to hide the Republican's responsibility? Obamacare was, in fact, the Republican Healthcare plan. But that's not the main point. Republicans are in power now. And they have a super-majority. There is no excuse for them not to pass it now! So if consistency is an attribute you avalue, you will acknowledge that Republicans should not be in power.

And Republicans, who have the power to fix it, won't fix it.

And yet... somebody has to be in power. Obama and the Dems didn't do the best job. But they did something. What we have now is a thousand times better than what we had before.. Republicans, on the other side, have done squat!

And what is "bad"?

Is the individual mandate bad? How do you keep "pre-existing conditions" and not require everybody to take insurance? Can they wait until they have the need? Don't you think that would make prices skyrocket? And how do you keep costs down if you do that? How do you keep hospitals running if they have to assume the ER costs for the uninsured?

You seem to have a great deal of trouble with the English language. For instance, you wrote about "tacking it." I wrote nothing about "tacking" anything. I have to assume that you meant "taking it." Now, back to your failure to understand simple English. If you are trying to buy a house and you are looking at the only one available in your area, but the best price you can negotiate is X, does that automatically mean you have taken it or have to take it? You seem to be confusing "best deal he could get" with "best deal he had to take and did."

 

What are you, 8 years old? Someone else try to explain the difference between OFFERED and ACCEPTED or GET and GOT.

This is how the Marketplace works: you enter your income, family size, estimated deductible expenses... and the Marketplace gives you how much you pay according to your after-tax income. It's an individualized cost according to each person's personal financial status. So if the marketplace says that the cheapest plan you can get according to your after-tax income is $50 K.... that means you're reporting a pretty hefty income. One that certainly can afford $50K

Now.... the question is: what business does somebody who has no clue how Obamacare works have criticizing Obamacare? By which I mean: mindlessly parroting wingnut talking points without even understanding what they are about.

 

If you spent a bit more time learning just a little about what you criticize, and less in spell-checking, you would not make such a fool of yourself.

Ah, yeah, I am aware of the factors affecting insurance rates. When you call one of those advertised phone numbers about home, health, and car insurance, my wife is one of the first people you might talk to. I get to listen to it for hours every day from an angle you, probably, don't.

What you don't seem to understand is my post saying that this one family jumped from $12,000 to $50,000, from free market competition rates to government mangled Obamacare rates. There was no declaration or opinion about their ability to afford it. You are bark, bark, barking up the wrong tree. What you thought was tinnitus is just the Liberal dog whistle. My "wingnut talking points" are all in your fevered mind.

Oh.. I see. So you are saying that the case you mentioned referred to somebody who went to the Marketplace to look for healthcare prices, but were so stupid that they didn't enter their personal information to find out how much they would really pay.

Those without insurance pay ~ 50% of medical retail bills. The increase in health insurance premiums to cover the cost of the uninsured is ~ 3%. Your analysis doesn't hold water.

 

8 million out of 140 million taxpayers is only 0.057%.

That means that 99.943% of all taxpayers and their families are either on Obamacare, Medicare or some employer sponsored healthcare that is regulated by Obamacare.

If all you have to whine about is a measly 0.057% then that is a huge success FOR Obamacare.

 

"They" refers to the person who makes so much money that they got quoted a $50K per year Insurance quote on the Marketplace.

No idea what you're talking about. The only "they" I have spoken about is the family who got quoted $50K. Is this some sort of tactic to avoid the issue? It's not necessary. Anybody who understands the basics about Obamacare and knows what Rush does has a very clear in their mind what is going on here.
