This could get interesting! The Cowardly Lion, also know as the Crybaby, and perhaps even Benedict Arnold...John Boehner, could end up losing his spot as Speaker of the House. Well, Bohner never was Speaker of the House, his correct title would be: "Punching Bag For Democrats", but anyway, if 16 Republicans decide to abstain from voting, he would fall 1 vote short of the required 218 votes needed to be Speaker of the House. Let's pray and hope this happens, so we can give the crybaby the biggest kick in the ass that he truly deserves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/12/05/Only-16-conservatives-necessary-to-unseat-Boehner-as-Speaker-group-says
The Republicans are beginning to eat their own under the pressure. John Boehner is in a predicament giving in to Democrats in the near future.
Yes, and when the republicans fail... FREE MONEY FOR EVERYONE!!!! and FREE HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE!!!!! What could possible go wrong??????
That's really none of your business, is it? The Republicans will decide who should be Speaker not outsiders like you.
I take it that you don't believe that a congressman's constituents should have a say in how they vote.
If you took a poll of Republican voters I'd bet that West Nile Virus is more popular than John Boehner.
Ignorance is bliss. The way the House functions today, the Speaker will always be from the majority party. If Boehner doesn't get elected to serve another term as Speaker, Eric Cantor will likely become Speaker. But Pelosi will not be Speaker again unless the Dems retake the House in 2014.
Well, if Boehner is not confirmed as Speaker again and it then falls on Cantu, we will have gridlock. In 2014, Pelosi will become the next speaker.
I'm not sure that Cantor is any better than Boehner. The problem is that after too many years in Washington many conservative politicians "go native" and become almost as bad as the real cannibals on the other side of the isle. Then the only important thing to them is holding onto power at any cost.
I disagree. We have gridlock even with Boehner as Speaker, and Cantor (not Cantu) is right there with Boehner on every issue. There would be little difference between them. I also disagree. I see her stepping down, with Steny Hoyer her likely successor.
I think both sides need to give their leadership positions over to fresh faces. There are many newer Republicans I think would bring far better honour to the GOP than Boehner and Cantor, and I used to live in Cantor's district.
Whichever party is in power, the individual members are afraid to vote against a sitting speaker. Because he (or she) can deny them committee chairmanships or even seats on the committee. Politicians crave power because that translates into political contributions that help them get re-elected.
Boehner has already denied several members committee seats and outright stripped others of their seats, an action they are very sour on. I suspect he's already screwed himself.
I don't envy Boehner's situation... it's tough to be the last German Army commander trying to defend Berlin when the "Americans and Brits" are advancing from the West, and the "Soviets" are surging in from the East, so to speak. "American and Brits" are all the cowardly-lion RINO's in the House, and, of course, we know who the "Soviets" are in this little example. It's a lose-lose situation for Boehner. About the best scenario for Republicans now is (forgive me) to go ahead and give these hyperlib socialist sons-of-(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)es exactly what they want! I know -- it sounds like heresy, but here's why I say that: Americans want "revenge" on "the rich"! They believe that by raising taxes on "the rich" that all our problems will be over at last! In today's news --http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-w...cs&ir=politics What the cattle forget are two FACTS: 1. No matter what the official tax rate is changed to, "the rich" won't pay anyway! As long as the U. S. Tax Code is riddled with loopholes, shelters, exemptions, and exceptions, then tax attorneys and tax accountants will thread their way way through it, as always, and "the rich" will go on paying little or nothing! Hint: President Marvelous, in all his time in office has not done one thing to actually change the tax code. He has never even troubled himself to mount a Democrat initiative to change the tax code... all he does is talk about it in the same disjointed, abstruse way that he talks about everything else.... 2. Republicans have completely FAILED to effectively inform the American cattle that the vast majority of American small businesses file as INDIVIDUALS! They are the ones who do most of the business activity in this country and most of the hiring, too, and any business that doesn't gross at least $250K/year is little more than a hobby.... So, the howling mob wants to tax "the rich", but all these ignorant, bitter idiots would achieve is another kick in the guts to American small businesses. We on the Right like the idea of a heroic leader fighting to the death for what he believes in, leading his troops into a battle he knows he can't win, because it's the right thing to do and honor will have it no other way. Boehner is NOT Colonel Travis at the Alamo. But, like Col. Travis, Boehner can win a pyrrhic victory by giving these socialist bastards what they say they want -- a tax increase on "the rich". American businesses will lay off thousands upon thousands of workers because of the resultant tax increases AND the impending financial destruction of Obamacare! It's a recipe for the "perfect socialist storm", and I say -- give Obama exactly what he wants! Only after the economy has been horribly knocked to its knees -- again -- is there the possibility that the American cattle may pull their heads out of their asses, at last, and banish Obamanite Socialism to the Twentieth Century trash pile it should have been left in after all the socialist/communist failures of decades ago.
If you want to replace Boehner and Cantor is not an improvement, then who is your replacement. You cannot get away with simply saying "anybody would be better." You have the baseball manager's problem: you have to have a name to start in center field.
Well, I guess in electing him, they have confidence in whatever choices they will make on the constituents behalf.
I have several names. My top pick would probably be between Walter Jones (NC-3), Justin Amash (MI-3), and David Schweikert (AZ-5).
