Obviously, the anchor is not a dog person. Some dogs are prone to biting strangers trying to accost them. When you stick your face into a dog's face he may (depending on his breed and/or temperment) view that as you trying to bite him. And he will act accordingly. It was not the owner's fault or the dog's fault. It was the anchor's fault. The dog did not leap up off the floor and attack the woman. She got down to his level and essentially (to the dog anyway) tried to bite him.

The dog was a little amped and very likely a bit scared by the commotion and noise on a TV set. So he was on edge a bit. Then the anchor got down to the floor and tried to bite him. And he reacted like many dogs do. Mine would not have bit her as my dog would not be on edge from the TV set. She is essentially not fazed by noise or commotion. But if it were her house and some lady got down and tried to bite her she would sure as hell bite.

Everything was fine until she put her face in the dogs face... the dog obviously felt threatened by it. I've been bitten this way myself... never did it again!

Here is a similar video. Again, everything was fine until the reporter started moving in for a smooch apparently.

That's how people learn! I bet she never does it again, either. A dog is (again, depending on the breed) very likely to assume some stranger putting their face in his face is trying to bite. And a dog in a strange place, with strange sounds and strange people is going to be a dog on edge in most cases. That makes Fido even more likely to bite.

I bet they noticed the obvious body language being displayed by both dogs after watching the videos.

The dog that bit me (a dopey looking, ancient Basset Hound of all things), had that same look on it's face.

    Unfortunate incident.

It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure current vaccination, and restraint of the animal. He should pay the consequences for not doing so.

The reporter was reckless, and is paying the consequences.

Should be the end... but likely will not be.

Yeah, I bet the anchor does not stick her face near a strange dog's face again.

Kinda weird how they just sat there after he bit her!

I don't know how or why they are going after the owner when a cop was on set, and the studio didn't have a problem with the dog not being leashed.

I get after my kids all the time about this. They think EVERY dog is friendly and incapable of biting. I don't want them to find out the hard way one day!

The anchor should be charged for harassing the dog.

No its not his fault its hers, its common knowledge that you dont put your face that close to a dogs, no matter what, it intimidates them.

Personal/intimate zones are 3', people should have learned that in school by the spacing of their chairs/seats. If we are not a relationship or in a doctor/patient relationship or a lap dance is involved, back the f(*)(*)(*) off!! :fight: :lonely:

If you are dumb enough to stick your face in the face of a dog you do not know, you deserve to become hamburger for the dog. If she was on his property, she is (lol) barking up the wrong tree anyway.

It all depends on the law, although the officer that was sitting beside the man and his dog should have taken action before someone got hurt. If the man gets charged, the officer should be held partially responsible.
