    Yup. Which is why hate crimes narrow it down to a specific community like a ethnic, racial, etc. group.

    That doesn't make any logical sense.

    You admit that all (random) crimes are crimes against the entire community. A "hate crime" would only be a crime against a segment of that community.
    Why should they be treated differently? Why the need to "narrow it down"?
