I assume that you acknowledge that in the US, the girls would not be cut off from their parents, if the parents consent to the marriage. And I assume that you acknowledge that this won't be the case when a child has been stolen from their parents as in this case. Again, you're right about it not being much different in the US, but you just can't seem to acknowledge ANY point of difference whatsoever.

 

I'm sure that this is restricted to faiths other than Christianity. We don't have freak Christian groups like the US Mormons.

 

True but Mormonism (LDS) has been compared to Islam for centuries. Many of their 'values' are similar.

No, I said a letter of rebuke would be set. right now the Paki government's help is needed strategically, unless the security of American citizens is at stake, that help needs to be maintained. A letter of rebuke, critizing the government publicly is as far as I would go.

Actually, you're wrong. Christiananity is based on the Bible. The new testament clearly lays out what christiananity is and there is absolutely nothing "rabid" about it. Reading the books of Acts....which showcases the beginning of the christian church, is like listening to a Bible based Baptist sermon of today. Unchanged.

You can blame people and their sin for veering from God and creating atrocities...but you can't blame Christian faith with the Bible as its foundation.

And by the way....almost no one says jesus didnt exist. He's well documented in secular sources.

Well, kidnapping is indeed illegal, but as has been rightly pointed out by @Bowerbird, child marriage is a thing, and indeed recognised under certain state law. Of course, not that these marriages/relationships couldnt happen in a purely religious or secular sense, even if the state didn't recognise them. So we of course can't say that government is responsible.

 

But we aren't talking about child marriage. That is a whole other topic. When a girl is considered a woman is based on society norms...the magic age of 18 was created by our modern society. In past a woman of child bearing age was a woman and a man full grown was a man. Many 16 year olds fought in the civil war.

What the topic is about is that a 14 year old was kidnapped!! And forced into marriage against her will.

I'm sorry that people can't see the difference between Loretta Lynn choosing to marry at 14 vs allowing and sanctioning a kidnapping.

The underlying theme is that the Pakistan law permitted it because the girl was Christian. Atheists are all for that.

No that is not obvious. No country was ever founded on the values of atheism...no courageous souls ever did that. A country founded on atheism doesnt exist unless you include N. Korea...which successfully pretty much erased all beliefs.
