If their income is below a certain level, they wouldn't pay taxes.
Now you're being ridiculous for the sake of being ridiculous. As if the poor are interested in Lamborghinis and Louis Vuitton luggage. They just want a roof over their heads and some comforts - which everyone should have.
I would answer faith and trust in our government. The American people have been fed so many lies in the past years by Washington and its controlled media that nothing can be believed. The Russiagate fraud would be a perfect example.

Then we have the impartiality, of allowing groups that have caused billons of dollars in damages like BLM and Antifa run around free, while clamping down on peaceful citizens protesting a dishonest vote. Then holding them in jail for 7 months in Washington without cause other than trespassing - yet they were merely following the government agents who had infiltrated the protest.

Then we have the cover ups of the adverse affects of the vaccines, when they should be investigated as was done in the past? Isn't people's health more important than money?

It's obvious that someone or some group is trying to cause chaos. But it's not going on only here, but in other countries as well. So why? Is it to bring about a One World dictatorship? If so, then isn't that treason.

And never to be increased without a constitutional convention.

...though it would require a concon to enact in the first place at this point.

Screw that. Over 50% of the (working) people pay zilch, nada, not a damn thing in taxes. Yet they get benefits even taxpayers don't get. WTF kind of fair system is that? What it is.. is stupid. It's socialism creep. More and more deadbeats will try to leech the government dole....that is paid for by a minority of the population.

I don't give a damn if someone makes a $1,000 bucks a month, they need to pay some tax and have some skin in the game. It's either that or this country will fail.....and we're well on our way.

Marxism exists in the imaginations of those who fear it. Otherwise it is a dying ideology.

5% would not begin to pay current government expenses. Every item in the federal budget has a powerful constituency to protect it. The largest and most expensive items are the most popular. The U.S. government has grown to its present size in response to popular demand.

It also exists in the minds who want to adopt it. I don't fear it. I'm too old to fear things. I hate it.

I don't think so. I think it has grown to its current size because of the political establishment buying votes. I suspect both sides of the transactions deserve blame. Government at its present size and corruption is not good for America. Everybody knows that. Some won't admit it. Let's call it the greed of politicians for political power and the greed and/or stupidity of the electorate to accept the bribes. I think the biggest problem is that we allowed people at the lower income levels to be free of income tax. Since they don't have as much stake as the full tax payers, it seems obvious to me that it was for the benefit of the politician class rather than the public. You can allow the struggling to pay less tax but you can't free them from it entirely without getting what we see. Corruption is a common human weakness.

What do you know of Marxism? I read some Marx in college. After college I took a fascinating seminar given under the sponsorship of the American Communist Party on Das Kapital. I already owned most of the books on the reading list. These included all three volumes of Das Kapital and an anthology of essays by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. They had been printed in Moscow by Progress Publishers.

The man leading the seminar was a brilliant physicist. While giving the seminar and performing his day job as a physicist he was translating a book from Russian to Swedish for the Soviet government.

My father was a economist. When I showed Dad the reading list for the seminar he said, "That man knows a lot about economics."

I have read The Communist Manifesto many times.

I have known members of the American Communist Party. I have always liked them. We disagreed about many subjects. We disagreed while being agreeable. I believe a political thinker should be read for insight, rather than doctrine. I think Karl Marx had two valid insights, and that he was mistaken about everything else.

fmw, what have you read by Marx? Why do you hate Marxism?

You do not seem to realize it but you agree with me: The U.S. government grew to its current size in response to popular demand. This is why, whenever Republican politicians get beyond their vague slogans about putting "the government on a diet" they run into effective resistance by the voters. Much of this resistance comes from Republican voters.

The political establishment is able to buy votes because most of the voters want a big government, paid for by the rich.

Contrary to what you claim, "Just remember, Biden wasn't elected. He was installed, like a toilet."

Biden was elected. He won the popular vote and the vote in the Electoral College. Trump was flushed down the toilet.

How do you define "freedom?" Are you in favor of abortion? Are you in favor of legalizing the sale and use of marijuana?

Freedom is the ability to do what one wants without interfering what others want to do. I am not in favor of abortion. The subject of the abortion may well have wanted to live. Serious interference. I favor the sale and use of marijuana. It doesn't interfere with the activities of other people.

It is like the parent saying no to the young daughter who wants to go to a slumber party where there will be boys. It is possible to say no. If that prevents re-election then we should put an end to re-elections.

I have read the same things you have read. I hate it because is cannot exist without authoritarianism and because it goes against human nature. Why do you like it?

Actually the investigators of the latest Pandora's box was financed by our government. This means the administration was trying to find something on Vladimir Putin to please those who ran out of Russia to avoid paying back taxes and who they have been applauding ever since. As they say, birds of a feather flock together.

Of course they didn't find anything on Putin or his associates, since integrity alludes them, but the controlled media will keep mentioning his name anyway - as if brainwashing the American people that he's corrupt would have any affect on the Russians - other than making them hate us.

It's the middle class workers that are carrying all the tax burden. They are the ones our deceptive politicians like to call the 'rich'. I disagree though about burdening the poor, when those who can afford the tax accountants are getting away with paying nothing.

I'd say he is The Godfather, the Russian mob and country answer to him. Can't see him being under The Brainy Don.

I think most people are Marxists not because they feel it's unfair, but because of envy and hatred towards others. It's a power grab by those who feel the entitlement really should be theirs. Sheer arrogance!

In the Russian revolution, the Bolsheviks were running around in the carriages and autos of the nobility - and heaven knows what happened to their hidden jewels - because that's where all their wealth was. I suspect much of it found itself in the jewelry stores of NYC. So much for their belief in a more equitable society.

This doesn't mean that a communist society is a bad thing, but there would have to be a change in the values and standards of a community. Also it cannot be imposed, but has to be within a person's own will.

It works with the Amish who are highly devout. But then again the Germanic people are more communal minded. It's one of the reasons there is less corruption and why they progressed.

I know the Catholic Church runs on a communist system. The Archdiocese gives the clerics a very low wage, and supplies them with living quarters and cars.
