I'd rather be painted as gay then painted as hating success.

As I said when this started:
Before game 1 of next season, the NFL will -require- all team members to stand for the anthem, and fine those that do not.

Maybe. And I think you'll find that implementing that policy won't do much at all to increase ratings.

Once NFL players stop kneeling - and those that do are publicly fined - it can do noting but help.

Where are all the liberals who have been telling us for weeks that the people angry at the NFL are not a big deal, no one is turning the NFL off, and ratings are just as high as ever?

Papa John's is one of the NFL's largest sponsor, including being a sponsor of something like 20 NFL teams. This statement is a BOMBSHELL, especially if other sponsors are feeling the same pain.

That's what has happened with me. I still watch my favorite team every Sunday and if there is a good game (usually the Sunday night game) I will tune in.... but the passion I used to have is gone. My obsession that if the NFL is on TV then I'll be watching is gone. Obsessive fans are becoming casual fans, and casual fans are disappearing.

There is an NFL game on TV tonight. Division rivalry game with 1 team a half game behind NE in the division and certainly in the Wild Card mix. I'm going to go see Thor instead. Such a thing would be absolutely unheard in my life 2+ years ago.

So you agree that the policy will not meaningfully increase ratings?

Still here, haven't changed my position. The NFL ratings are down, as is all prime time TV. No one disputes that. What is in dispute is the amount of damage actually being done by "boycotters".

I hate to shatter your self delusions but sponsors don't pay for passion, they pay for eye balls.

Fact is NFL ratings are down at a rate far greater than the average across all other shows and all other sports.

Your pathetic attempt to make it sound like the NFL is simply losing the same audience share everyone else is losing is epic fail.
Well, one of the biggest sponsors of the league has specifically pointed out that the lack of leadership in the NFL front office regarding the "kneeling" issue is a big problem.

And when sponsors start having problems, the league has a major problem. You might choose to keep your head buried in the sand, by they can't do so anymore.

So the head of Papa Johns is blaming their loss of sales on black athletes?

Also, Dominos has come out and said that the NFL is not costing them business.

It could very easily hurt by causing individuals from the opposite side of the debate to boycott.

And no, they are not going to pass a rule that requires their players to stand.
