Paramedics called to Occupy Eugene for alleged heroin overdose

EUGENE, Ore. (KMTR) - Tense moments for Occupy Eugene protesters Saturday afternoon when police and paramedics were called for a reported heroin overdose.

Just after four o'clock, protesters say a man in his early 30's passed out with a shallow pulse.

Protesters say two occupiers may have helped save the man's life. A registered nurse and a doctor came to the man’s aid shortly after he passed out, giving him CPR before on-duty paramedics arrived.

The man eventually regained consciousness and is said to be okay.

NewsSource 16 was told he refused to go to the hospital by ambulance, but, agreed to let Occupy Eugene members drive him there.

These OWS dopers are nothing like the taxpaying Tea Party members. Van Jones' "movement" is not going to work.

His parents must pay well for him to have heroin money.

Either that, or he bummed it off some other OWS drug addict. Maybe he stole it off a corpse? They've been known to lie around these events with nobody noticing for days.

There isn't much that is surprising from the movement anymore.

We know that at any occupy camp there is going to be the potential for rape, sexual assault, disease, lice, crime, drug sales, overdoses, and violence.

The worst however is their greedy disregard for citizens or business in surrounding areas of their camps. Their greedy abuse and disrespect for others property.

Wall Street has a very good familiarity with heroin overdoses. If the people INSIDE the glass buildings can shoot and snort up on other people's money, why is it such a surprise a few of the people in the tiny cold tents outside do the same?

Heroin is one of the primary drugs of choice for stockbrokers.

Where did it say that people were shooting drugs in their offices?

Obfuscate, then redirect the conversation to something else.

The ear bleeding decibels of vitriol leftists leveled at Tea Parties for "angry mob" behavior and a miniscule amount of racially insensitive signs...

are inversely equaled by their apologies for OWS.

In my 50 years, it's the most glaring and damming evidence of leftist duplicity I've had the pleasure of witnessing.

    Good times.

Interesting that you point out the man who had an overdose as a member of OWS, yet completely ignore the two people who saved his life. Bias much?

How do you know that the man wasn't a tax payer exactly? Did the article say he was unemployed? What about the doctor and the nurse? Are they not tax payers?

Unfortunately, heroin has become a major problem in Oregon in recent years. It's a good thing that the doctor and nurse where close by to save his life.

There were no other heroin overdoses anywhere in the US on Saturday afternoon.

    Why such surprise?

Most of the Right listens to, quotes, and invites to speak at many important meetings a man who spent his days taking THOUSANDS of Oxycontin pills, so many that he lost his hearing, which is the ONLY reason the massive addiction of a radio personality EVER came to light. (And being Right Wing, losing his HEARING was a very SMALL handicap!)

Rush Limbaugh is an inspiration to hypocritical right Wingers everywhere!

And proof that drug abuse doesn't seem to indict the message the abuser is bringing, at least when it is a Right Wing message!

Isn't that EXACT principle of this whole thread?

Rather than a meaningful criticism of the Occupy movement's message, we get stories of somebody doing a drug overdose, or somebody sleeping in a tent, or pooping on a car.

    Conservatism 101!

    More obfuscation and redirection.

Is this really the best you can do to defend the pathetic parade of losers known as OWS?

It's a waste of resources that a doctor and nurse who are marching at a protest on their day off save a man's life?

I used to live in Eugene. It's a college town with a lot of overprivileged college kids that choose to live on the streets because they think that it's "cool", even though Mommy and Daddy send them money every other week or so or whenever they run out and need to call home for more cash. Lots of wannabe hippie kids, dopers, smack junkies, coke heads, crackheads, and general all-around fiends on the streets in that town. About the only good thing going for it back then was all the bars, restaurants, and the nickel video arcade downtown.

So you're saying we shouldn't give medical care to junkies?
