Well, the story as told is that God's original intent was that all life would be wiped from the earth. Then, Noah was pointed out, and God provided an escape for him.

At least that's how I remember the story. Maybe I'll go read it again.

That's not what was going on at all.

    Genesis 6 says:
Again, the fascinating thing here is that the all powerful, all knowing, God that knows the beginning and the end thought he had made a MISTAKE!!!

And, then he CHANGED HIS MIND!!!

This is just one reason that I think it is better for Christianity to see the Noah story as an allegory involving the washing of earth by water. Washing by water is a frequent religious theme - baptism, for example.

In the Bible inly Israelites/Hebrews/Jews are considered men or human beings. Gentiles are considered dogs, swine, or animals. According to the fairy tale the Garden of Eden with Adam & Eve existed down the road from Assyria, Ethiopia, Arabia, and Persia. Guess what? Those same places and people existed after Noah's flood. The Noah story is based upon the First Commandment as found in Exodus 34:10-16. All of the biblical stories are based on one of the Ten Commandments found in Exodus 34:10-28. You can't cite one biblical story that doesn't illustrate the idea in one of the Ten Commandments.

Without the OT there is no Jesus. Without the OT there is no Davidic line. Without the OT there is are no 'so called prophecies' upon which the character of Jesus is supposedly based..

Your obsession with unreality affects your reality. The gunner was doing what all good gunners do, checking his rear. Ever heard of encirclement. Allowing the enemy to break through and then closing in from the rear? A tactic used from time immemorial. Even in the last WW.

If you bothered to look through what I've posted you will see that the Biblical story of Abraham and Moses is just a story.

Get real. If you believe the ridiculous stories of the OT then there was no more savage tribe than the Hebrews. They wiped out thousands of innocent - men women and little children.. Let me see. Isn't that what Hitler did and we call him evil.
On their supposed way to Palestine they 'supposedly' wiped out cities, simply because they stood in their way or they were promised the city by God.
Fortunately, the evidence of archaeology proves these tales were just stories. And the Amalekites are found nowhere in history but in the Bible.

Tank gunners glancing behind is ok now and again, but when they become fixated on looking behind it amounts to paranoia..
Same with Old Testament-obsessed fundies, that's why Jesus had to tell them to get their noses out of their heavyweight theological volumes-
"You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the Scriptures that testify about me, yet you refuse to come to me to have life." (John 5:39/40)

Nothing in the OT refers to Jesus. That's pure Christianity. Without it Christianity has no foundation.

And really, you quote John 5:39/40. If Jesus spoke these words the Jews would have never have understood what Jesus was talking about. The whole of the OT is wrapped up in the Shema
Sh'ma Yisra'eil Adonai Eloheinu Adonai echad. Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One.
How could god have a son if 'the Lord is one?' The whole of the OT is wrapped up in this. There is no mention of a triune god. The 10 commandments make that quite clear.' I am THE Lord God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt....'.
The problem is you won't look back and see the basics.

QUOTE A man's gotta do......The Allies bombed German cities to rubble and nuked Japan; if they hadn't you'd be speaking jap or german by now. QUOTE.

So the Nations/cities that showed no enmity toward Israel were to be destroyed without pity just because they didn't believe in the Hebrew god, or because the Jews wanted their cities for themselves.

Forget your obsession with tank warfare. You're like my eldest son. He can recognise almost every tank of the first and second WW's., visited war museums and tank museums. Thankfully he's able to disassociate these from real life.

Christianity has got Jesus, what more rock-solid foundation does it need?..:)
Jesus said- "Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock....Everyone who hears these words of mine, and doesn't do them will be like a foolish man, who built his house on the sand..."  (Matthew 7:24–27)

    Jesus the Jewish Preacher.

What about -Sh'ma Yisra'eil Adonai Eloheinu Adonai echad. Hear, Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One. How could god have a son if 'the Lord is one?' No indication that God had a son anywhere in the OT.
So when this Jewish Preacher comes along and talks in such terms how are the listeners expected to understand? Son of God? - think the Jews. No such thing. And when he talks of a human vicarious - again never mentioned in the OT - can you be surprised the Jews rejected him? All this nonsense about him being hugely popular, like Elvis, is nonsense. That people flocked in their thousands to hear him and be fed with bread and fish is not only highly exaggerated but, considering the conditions of the time, ridiculous. Yes, to those who heard him, he was popular for standing up against the religious hierarchy. People were poor and had to work hard just to exist. They had little time free - except the Sabbath - and then there were restrictions on travel and work. They had neither time, communication facilities or transport to meet at short notice.

1- Sh'ma Yisra'eil Adonai Eloheinu Adonai echad sounds like a Klingon delicacy mate, make mine a nice plate of Gagh will you?..:)
2- The Old T contains a truckload of prophecies foretelling the arrival of Jesus, i don't think they refer to mickey mouse, look-
VIRGIN BIRTH- "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son" (Isaiah 7:14)
BETHLEHEM BIRTHPLACE- "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times" (Micah 5:2)
JOHN THE BAPTIST- "A voice of one calling: "In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God" (Isaiah 40:3)
MESSIAH FROM LINE OF JUDAH- "The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his" (Genesis 49:10)
MESSIAH ON DONKEY- "Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey" (Zech 9:9)
BETRAYED BY JUDAS- "I told them, "If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it." So they paid me thirty pieces of silver" (Zech 11:12)
MESSIAH SILENT- "He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth" (Isaiah 53:7)
JUDAS REPENTS- "And the Lord said to me, "Throw it to the potter"--the handsome price at which they priced me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them into the house of the Lord to the potter" (Zech 7:13)
MESSIAH CRUCIFIED- "He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed....Dogs have surrounded me; a band of evil men has encircled me, they have pierced my hands and my feet" (Isaiah 53:5,Psalm 22:6)

Jesus said straight out they referred to himself, so you if you don't believe him you'd better argue it out with him when you meet him..:)
Jesus said:- "All things about me in the law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms, must be fulfilled" (Luke 24:44).......
"The scriptures testify about me..Moses wrote about me" (John 5:46)

I've already been through these with you. They are all taken out of context but, like many others, you simply refuse the context in which these quotes occur.

Of course there were a lot of lunatics among the Pharisees. The Bible says so. Luke 6:10-11 And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, stretch forth thine hand. And he did so; and his hand was restored whole as the others. And they were filled with madness.

(Why didn't Jesus heal them like the demon possessed man). Oh, of course they weren't really mad because it says they went on to commune with each other on what to do about Jesus.

Instead of believing all you've been told tear yourself away from Tank Warfare, spend some time understanding the OT. That's what Paul said to Timothy.
And you've just proved that Christianity depends on the OT with the quotes you have given.

Sad thing is that a real study would show that these quotes in context have relevance to the Jews and do not refer to Jesus.

No reason at all, but these quotes should be about what the Bible says - not the way Christianity interprets it. The two things are completely different.

That is why they are quote mines. Quote mining is a cheap and lazy way to be disingenuous.

I asked for examples and all you did was repeat your assertion.

Here is an example of someone quoting scripture:
MESSIAH FROM LINE OF JUDAH- "The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his" (Genesis 49:10)
    That was you!

Now, again, show some examples of atheists quoting from atheist books.

Preacher Brady needs some help. Here's a Dawkins quote:

"The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all of fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infancidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously manevolent bully."
