I just don't believe the timing was an accident or coincidence.

There are over 30 "moderate" Democrats who were elected in Trump states. All the polling on those seats shows majority of voters are rejecting impeaching Trump, particularly in battleground states.

The lunatic Democrats are a minority (right now) in Democrat seats.

If the "moderate" Democrats vote against impeachment, impeachment will fail in the house and Pelosi can go into 2020 saying "see voters, we can work with the POTUS" and then blame the push for impeachment on the lunatic Dems with safe seats.

Her hope was to impeach and get public support. That didn't happen. She knows impeachment fails in the Senate. Even worse, it will give Republicans a chance to control the impeachment narrative and witnesses/investigations.

If she allows the vote to pass, she emboldens the lunatic Democrats in her own party that want to replace her with an AOC and loses allies she can't afford to lose.

So if this impeachment goes to the Senate, she'll probably lose speakership either way when the vote for Speaker is again voted on in 2020.

I don't think any big announcement by a Govt isn't timed for specific reasons unless the media gets it first.

I don't think Nancy was ever going to hold onto the position for very long, no matter what. The impression I got was that she was there to help the new House dems figure out how things worked, and then hand the gavel over to someone new and fresh.

That said, You do make some good points about the battleground states. The political battle could definitely go either way from that point of view, but I think that pushing the articles was kind of the 'line', because if it fails, you know every republican commercial will push the divisions as evidence that the Dems can't even get their own act together, so why should they be given the chance to run the show?'

Unless something big comes out, I don't know if the Dems can find any level of a unifying front. It's one of the few things about the Republicans I respect. They may disagree, but other then the Tea PArty Revolt, they know how to stick together.

Those commercials are already running, so I think Pelosi's only hope is to move away from the craycraycrats.

Personally I think Pelosi's gavel will have to be pried out of her cold dead hands for the next Democrat to get it.
