I have yet to find a record of any Republican who opposed desegregation. I know a few who thought it would have been better to send the troops to desegregate because segregation violated the COTUS. IOW, Ike should not have stopped in AK. Tempting, but I have mixed feelings about that.

 

Back in the 70's Joe South wrote a song "Walk A mile In My Shoes". That song could have been written today and would be right on the money. You know there was a time I could say I was qualified to understand what the black man was feeling. Today I'm just as unqualified as every other non-white person. I could take an educated guess what is going on as I myself have felt some of the same resentments against society. The opposing side has no real ideal what real resentments have built up over the years.
At present we have all the actors on stage and they are making their pitch for their agendas. Never let a good crisis go to waste. right? I have seen this play so often I could right a movie about it. If it was a stage play it could be called "An American Tragedy". The tragedy is, that when all is said and done, it will only be the people who have the least to lose will lose more"
Why is the real conversation never held? Political correctness will not allow it. There are those who want to re-write history and there are those who want to preserve it no matter what. It's not just about talking but also listening. As a white person take a little time to step into the shoes of the black. Take yourself back ,to as far as you can go, and suppose you were born in a country that acts like it doesn't want you. A country that only uses you for corporate and political gain. A country that uses you for fodder for their wars and then treats you like a second class citizen. Pissed off yet?
If your a black person you might try and step into the white mans shoes. What is his trouble, can't he see were suffering? Why do they resent us so? You may find the answers more surprising than plain racism. Do you think slavery was always part of America? Who owned the first slave in America? Are you willing to have a real discussion about black history? Why should we pay reparations? Who's responsible for your well being? If most of your values align with most values of everyone else then why do you constantly demonize the opposition? Why don't you hold your local politicians responsible for malfeasance? Do you consider yourself part of a special group living in America or an American?

 

I am not sure what you are saying or asking. I do not know if your questions are rhetorical or if you are accusing me of those things.

When I was young my family were the only white family in the neighborhood but eventually we moved to a mixed neighborhood. I had my up's and downs but all turned out. Should I feel guilty for working myself out of poverty or should I feel guilty for white privilege ? Should a black person who gets a promotion feel guilty if they had black privilege because their promotion was the result of affirmative action? . Should they feel guilty if they got the promotion because they worked hard and deserved it? See there's lots to talk about.

Why we expect any Democrat to own up to any wrong doing years & years ago when they have a nominee for their President who eulogized at the funeral for Robert Byrd the Senator from West Virginia who was the Grand POO - POO of the KKK. You know the same guy who signed off on FISA warrants to unmask aides of Trump without credible evidence. Guess he was too busy counting the money with Hunter that they were able to scam from the Ukraine and China. Then again these were the same Democrats who said nothing when Hillary Clinton smashed her phones and erased her hard drive to conceal evidence. Then these are the same Democrats who have covered for sex maniac Bill Clinton and now Joe Biden and his sex scandals.
