E.g.:Holbert et al (2004, Fear Authority and Justice: Crime Related TV Viewing and Endorsements of Capital Punishment and Gun Ownership, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Vol 8, pp 343-363):

We focus on the relationships among three types of television viewing (news, police reality, and crime drama) and attitudes toward capital punishment and handguns, as well as the likelihood of actually owning a handgun. A host of exogenous variables are treated as predictors of television use, support for police authority, fear of crime, and our criterion variables. A series of direct and indirect relationships are assessed. Analysis suggests that viewing police reality shows is both directly and indirectly related to the endorsement of capital punishment and handgun ownership, while also directly predicting a greater likelihood of actual handgun ownership. In addition, TV news viewing predicts fear of crime in audience members, and this fear contributes to the endorsement of capital punishment and handgun ownership. Crime drama indexing is positively/ related to support for the death penalty

Sorry for the wait was trying to read this on my phone yesterday while i was watching some new show on netflix o.0 (Bridalplasty....o.0)

    http://www.journalism.wisc.edu/~dshah/JMCQ2004b.pdf

    so this was the hyphothesis
So in the shows it uses Gun Ownership as protection for ones self.
    However the characters were usually
So over exposure of guns in the media bring out people wanting to add more restrictions and people wanting to find ways to protect themselves (They both are good would you not agree?)

so...the part quoted above in red...

so..people wanting more police presence means more people also would like to protect themselves as well would this mean, If we got rid of all police, we would need no guns? Since more police more people want guns themselves?

So is he guessing as people are more worried about crim e they will buy guns or they will find other means to protect themselves? He just knows theres a possibility that more people will purchase firearms. Because obviously they will find a means or way to. (Dont you all always ask for facts? This is an assumption isnt it?)

Will post more later, At work. Almost lunch :D

gonna be eh today get paid monday instead of tomorrow so 2 for a dollar brisket sandwhiches and a coke for a dollar. Something better then nothing especiall when you have to wait for someone and drive a truck instead of lane splitting on a bike. Thanks though :D

    Added this:

    Simple Questions:

    1. If you wanted would you own a gun?
    2. If you had to, would you?
    3. What would you own? Would it be something you saw on T.V. once or something you liked or knew worked? Would you research it before you made your purchase.
    4. Would you want it to be registered like your car yearly or would you want something where you have to re-register every 5 years.
    5. Would you do safety checks? Would you want to have to take it in to make sure it works or should that be on you to make sure its taken care of?
    6. Would you think of yourself like other gun owners because one might be out there would you think you were out there?

    Yes

    Yes

Nope. I'd go for this one just to annoy the neighbours!

I'd ask for assistance, making sure first that I was wearing my finest tweed.

I would hope that the registering was a pain in the backside. It would give the house maid something to chase me around the room about!

    Jeeves would look after it.

I'd see myself as a great white hunter and get terribly bored of eating stupid pheasant
