I'm confused. All day yesterday, I was told countless times that there has been 292 mass shootings in the US in 2019. I saw many right-wing people claiming that the number was skewed because it included gang related shootings and was not a representation of what we think of when the term "mass shooting" is used (i.e.Las Vegas, Comumbine, El Paso, Sandy Hook, etc.), while the left were all pretty much saying "hey....a mass shooting is a mass shooting". Today, someone posts a picture of the perpetrators of "mass shootings" and now the left is saying "hey....you can't include gang related shootings". So....did the MSM lie to us yesterday? Does that mean that Trump is right and that many in the media are just trying to push an agenda....a narrative?

I mentioned this in another thread: politically motivated violence (terrorism, in this case) is taken much more seriously than other forms of violence. You can avoid most violent crimes by simply avoiding places where lots of poor people live (poverty, not race, breeds crime). What can you do to avoid terrorism? Don't go to Walmart? Don't go to New York? Don't go to church? Don't leave the house? Terrorism is debilitating to a society. And conservatives suddenly care about blacks killing blacks in Chicago? No, you guys don't. You're not fooling anyone.
Interesting. They put the whole matter on whites, when by that lineup, whites represent about fifteen percent, even though they are sixty percent of the total population in America. That makes whites around seventy five percent less dangerous than all other Americans, not more so. hmm...Thanks for that info. The left wing media loves to peddle disinformation. So how free is a press that is locked up in a conspiracy to deceive and mislead the nation? Isn't that the opposite of the purpose of a free press? And how is such a press any different than any other abuser of this or that aspect of liberty? If I abuse my second amendment right, it is removed from me and I may be imprisoned. And how is teaching precious little white children that they are bad, or that their talents and successes are offensive, anything short of diabolical. Perhaps this is a key element in the rise of so called "white nationalism".
Man was that a disgusting read. 4 dead including a toddler. 4 killed: girlfriend, her brother, her mum, her dad. We had a bad family shooting last year, it really rocked the community. An extended family gone. MakeI sure you balance this sort of thing out with positive storiew so you don't get a warped view of humanity. An incredibly small percentage of people do this sort of thing.
Your problem is you are mixing issues. One issue is the ready availability of weapons that can kill many in seconds. The second is the ready availability of those weapons to people bent on domestic terrorism. Gang members in turf fights account for the largest percentage of 4 or more victims but they don't indiscriminately kill dozens or attack classrooms because that would bring a lot of heat down on them. As long as they just kill each other there's not a lot of will to bring them to justice. Sadly for the neighborhood. They tend to be black and Hispanic. Domestic terrorists are people that attack indiscriminately in public areas like schools, festivals, night clubs and Walmarts with a goal of killing as many as possible. They could strike anywhere and anytime and that is what scares people and gets the press. They tend to be white and disturbed. The common denominator is the ready access to high powered and rapid fire weapons.
I do not say it is not important But it was not at first clear to me what was being said I, and i think many other people, took the meaning to be 4 or more people killed And of course the correct meaning is relevant But i wonder if the confusion was intended Or accidental Imo it was an intended confusion in that this was presented in conjunction with mass KILLINGS if the issue is to say these typs of events should be similarly presented .... why not SAY this from the outset, rather than forcing people to go digging The thing is, when a story seems intentionally mis represented... i tend to reject that story because i think if the person believed the story.... they would have not mis represented it to begin with From my point of view these statistics are relevant, and should be discussed But ARE typically referring to an event of a different kind than recent mass KILLING The distinction being exactly what is incorporated in the wording Mass KILLINGS vs mass SHOOTINGS In one case.... the killing seems important to the perpetrator... In the other case it seems satisfactory, for what ever reason, to mostly wound people... A dog who bites someones arm seems different than a dog who rips out someones throat
If you are using it to describe me, as the OP, you are indeed using it 'lightly' and mistakenly. The media is pushing the narrative that their is an epidemic of white shooters and on the other hand, telling us there were over 200 'mass shootings' this year. If it's 'racist' to simply post a picture exposing it, then I guess i'm 'racist'....
