Hiya, This is about the US political system. I only caught a little but it made me thankful for the modified Westminster system we have here. It just seems so paralysed in the USA (no, i don't be polarised). Enjoy: http://www.abc.net.au/news/programs/planet-america/ I dunno, maybe some Americans will find something interesting from a foreign perspective. It's partly about 'the system' you have, and partly just political news. A preview is temporarily available on YouTube but the above link should be valid for some time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=mNEV3ox7mss
Hi Rescus, I also watched it smiling. Wouldn't it be great to learn more from one another? No system is perfect! Sometimes it comes to crunch questions or subjects where I would like to see the Swiss System introduced to Australia, where the people vote and make decisions for important matters, and not the elected politicians.... Cheers mate
I have heard that the U.S systems allows true change because we are so democratic at so many levels. From school board to congressman to primary and less directly president. I think our system works pretty good. We can ground-swell here with the grassroots.....to shake things up in the establishment and make them listen and change tune pretty quick. Does that happen in Australia?
Unfortunately, our system has become so swamped by corporate cash that it is often difficult to dislodge entrenched incumbents.
I will assume that is a joke. No. Australians are too fat, dumb and happy to want to change much. But nor does it happen in the USA.
