Over the course of the history of the former Soviet Union thousands of “political enemies” were sentenced to the Gulag for their ideas, charged with “slandering the state”. They were deemed dangerous to the government because their thoughts were not in line with the goals of the government which was to repress thoughts and speech that did not support the government. The people in the Former Soviet Union were expected to think in a singular, collective way. Any questioning or criticism of the collective was considered threatening to collective thought and so was punished with long periods of imprisonment in isolated camps like the Gulag where many just disappeared from history and died. The Gulag was a necessary development for a government based on central planning because order and complete control in thought and deed were crucial in maintaining the mandates of central planning.

It’s of great concern to citizens of the US who attended school during the Cold War years that collectivism and the propagation of collectivism has been slowly infecting the west and western thought. Its contemporary moniker is “political correctness”. The modern genesis of political correctness came from the left in the early 1970’s where it heralded the onset of academic initiatives to advance the notion that there is only one “right” collectivist way to think. Repressed thinking or political correctness makes sense only if the end game is to annihilate alternative views that pose a threat to collectivism which is exactly what Stalin tried to with Soviet society. But Stalin didn’t have liberal universities and goon squads of leftist militarized media to brainwash the citizens. He had to use the Gulag.

As with the former Soviet Union, the main obstacle to modern central planning in the US is unrestrained free speech. For instance, speech that is not aligned with the goals of the government is not considered representative of opposing views. It is labeled as “hate speech” which uses language manipulation to stigmatize it as the “wrong” kind of speech. Because only speech that supports the long range plans of the government is the “right” kind of speech, any speech that does not toe the line of the government and the goals of the collective is the “wrong” kind of speech. This is the sinister foundation of political correctness. Hate speech is really just a repurposed version of slandering the state. Those who run afoul of the edicts of the collective are demonized as enemies of the state. As it was in the former Soviet Union it is in the US today.

The Soviet Union failed after just seven decades of providing everything free to the citizens. It failed because it couldn’t produce the wealth necessary to pay for the food, the healthcare, the schools, the housing and the military to maintain a modern civilization. It failed because it was a planned society and those plans had no consideration for the dignity and personal liberties of its citizens. It failed because it was too politically correct. The Soviet Union dissolved in 1991 but it did not fall to democracy. It passed the collectivist baton to the American left that ran with it and are now well into a marathon where the finish line ends in a globalist collectivism that Stalin never dreamed could exist.

Political correctness dictates that our “democracy” must separate individual citizens into opposing political factions- men against women, rich against poor, Blacks against whites, old against young. It also dictates that marginalized behavioral groups like homosexuals that belong on the fringes of society be brought into the mainstream and given a political identity to grow the collective and justify the expansion of centrally planned government.

The suicidal poison of political correctness does not end there. It demands that borders are unprotected and national sovereignty thrown to the wind. Mexico has been prosecuting cultural chemical warfare against the US for generations by supplying Americans citizens with affordable illegal drugs while a phony war on drugs is sold to the public. Illegal immigrants stream over the borders displacing Americans from their jobs and dispossessing them of their national heritage and language-all for the new global collective.

While the world reels from terror our leaders meet to discuss climate change. On its face it seems absurd but it’s not absurd. In fact it’s brilliant. In his wildest dreams Joseph Stalin never thought of holding the citizens accountable for hurricanes, floods and melting ice. You see if you can blame the people for the weather you can tax them endlessly in an endless number of ways in addition to dictating which industries will live or die. Now that’s controlling the means of production.

They are incapable of learning as in their collective minds (pun intended) the acceptance of the brutal truth is simply too harsh to palate. Was it Faulkner who said that there is no animal as dangerous as a man whose belief system has just been totally shattered.

Funny how right wing political correctness as practiced by Hitler, Mussolini, Salazar, Franco, Stroesnner, and Rios-Montt (Reagan's best friend) get ignored by right wingers.

Tyranny always poses as Utopianism. Never trust a Utopian. Free Markets, Free Speech, Freedom to accumulate and dispose of property, right to bear arms. Utopians always go after those rights.

Didn’t the USA do pretty much the same thing with “un-American activities” and anti-Communist witch-hunts? One of the things that kept the Cold War running so long wasn’t that the sides were so different but that they were so similar.

Rubbish. “Political correctness” is used to refer to various things (good, bad and indifferent) so I fail to see how you can automatically equate all of them with Communism. You seem to be just taking to concepts you disapprove of and trying to lump them together. I suspect this is to make it easier for you to attack all the people you believe hold different views to you as you try to establish the one right way to think (I hope the irony isn’t lost on you).

I fail to see whatever you’re calling “political correctness” this week drives people in to separate factions when that’s typically exactly what it’s against. It’s also ironic (again) that you condemn separating individuals in to opposing factions with on breath then declare that homosexuals belong on the “fringes of society” with the next.

There are people who argue for that (though I don’t agree with them) but again, you can’t just slap the “political correctness” on something you disagree with so you can just dismiss it out of hand. Well, you demonstrably can but you should expect anyone to see it as a rational argument.

Please note this is an attempt at debate about your rationale, not a simple attack on your conclusions. Also, please don’t waste your time with name calling or presuming my political outlook – I will just ignore them.

The real question is why do they think this way? they can't all be stupid. Perhaps they have a desire to be liked or to be accepted rather than rejected? or maybe they doubt themselves and believe a guy like Gore or Obama is superior to them hence they're wrong for questioning them?

Ironically these are the same people that won't question elitists, yet it was questions that allowed us to progress as a species...

Well, at least we all aren't limiting ourselves..

Seems like the OP skipped he rest of the world in his "analysis". Well... OP completely bastardized political correctness to fit the narrative he wants to promote.

Not much reality in the post at all.

Political correctness or hate speech as it really is (Americans ranting against PC are usually racists) has been illegal in for example Denmark since 1939. Why? To protect the Jews.

Half the people on this forum would be banned or fined in a country like Denmark. Well.. Half the American media probably would.

If that is your best reply you have little worth wasting time on.
FYI either the Germans lost the war themselves or the Russians beat them. It sure as hell was not the USA joining 4 years later.

Actually, most of the people sentenced to time in the gulags were actively involved in counterrevolution. They committed industrial sabotage or otherwise damaged the cause.

In addition, most people who went to the gulags were freed. Only a small minority died.

Lastly: Pravda, the official newspaper of the USSR, was very active in publishing criticism of the state. It was seen as counterrevolutionary not to criticize the state, because then problems couldn't be addressed.

The Soviets had complete control of education from child to doctorate. Places like the former USSR and North Korea have complete control of the information which its citizens come into contact with, far in excess of any educational power possessed by Western nations.

So why do they need the gulag, but we don't? They have far less need for it.

Does your speech incite imminent lawless action? No? Then you can speak it. It is not illegal to use racial slurs. It's simply an upgrading of the charge if you get done for subsequent assault. I agree, that's unjustifiable and stuff, but it's not as you made it out to be.

I'll give you $1000 if you video tape yourself calling blacks n***** in front of a police officer and are arrested for hate speech.

I thought the Soviet Union failed because Reagan ruined their economy slightly more than his own via an escalation of the cold war? What happened to that?

This is almost a verbatim copy of the establishment right's platform. They separate individuals into groups and then punish the groups rather than the individuals, regardless of their individual innocence of guilt. They then push a populist xenophobic message to gather votes.

Of course, the establishment left is guilty of this too, for the reasons you stated (I am on the right).

They already take 30% of everything the entire nation produces each year. Besides, taxation is out of fashion - it uses up political capital very quickly. Since Reagan the game has been simply spending endless money and putting it off through borrowing or printing. Borrowing just pushes the tax off to the future (plus interest), while printing simply applies the tax to the value of the dollar. In fairness, Reagan didn't start this, but he definitely perfected it as a method of claiming fiscal conservatism while doing the exact opposite in practice.

Besides, it's not like they haven't been regulating and seizing these businesses for over a hundred years. Read up on Teddy Roosevelt, Wilson, Hoover, etc - they implemented broad scale nationalist programs to control production and prices in most industries. None of this is new or requires climate change to advance.

Apacherat - you are but one example of narrow minded cultural neo-McCarthyism right wing "thinking". When your brand of political correctness with its infinitude of shortcomings is pointed out, you become angry and resort to deflections and self projections.

A strategic decision was made to avoid the term "communism" opting instead for the broader term "collectivism". The kids in school today are not given all the information necessary to connect the dots to create a clear picture of why our constitution is such a special document. What they are getting is history refashioned to fit a narrative of collectivist ideology. Our democracy is now headed by an embedded political class, both left and right, protected from the harsh realities faced by the common masses. The Affordable Care Act was clearly unconstitutional because it did not give healthcare to individuals. It forced individuals to purchase insurance from private companies. The collectivists simply penciled in the necessary language to make it appear constitutional. The red flag should have been raised when the first act of the political class was to shield themselves from the effects of the act. Our leaders are leading us on a journey to global collectivism where our constitution has no more relevance than Confederate money. It is simply paper to be thrown into the fire of a new world government administered by the privileged intellectuals who have their hands on the controls-just as the Soviets did only on a global scale.

You are encouraged to study the history of Alexander Fraser Tytler, a man who lived in a different time period but predicted the path we are on:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising them the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over a loss of fiscal responsibility, always followed by a dictatorship. The average of the world's great civilizations before they decline has been 200 years. These nations have progressed in this sequence:

    From bondage to spiritual faith,
From spiritual faith to great courage,
    From courage to liberty,
    From liberty to abundance,
    From abundance to selfishness,
    From selfishness to complacency,
    From complacency to apathy,
    From apathy to dependency,
From dependency back again to bondage."

Political correctness is purely determined by the person who says it and the person(s) who hear it. People thought Hitler was politically correct, people think Trump is politically correct. Of course after they die and the real dispute starts up about them, then the people are overwhelmed by majority and all the sudden they are not (of course my examples are not the best, they are both full of it)

PC is nothing more than lies appealingly wrapped up and disguised as compassion.
The overwhelming majority of Americans believe political correctness is a problem in this country.

Listening to the radical fringe left trying to hold on and defend it, lends no debate.

Nonsense. PC is oriented to reduction in abrasiveness.

The problems referenced have to do with political repression, the end of free speech, etc.

    PC does none of that.
