hey guys.... just thought of something cool we could do. rank each issue 1-5 based off of importance 1 = least important 2 = less important 3 = somewhat important 4 = more important 5 = most important idk if you guys want to go back and add that in but i'm going to do that
1. Abortion is a woman's right Stongly agree, a woman has a right to do whatever she wants to her body but it doesn't mean the rest of society has to agree with it. Abortion should be illegal but if she decides to do something illegal its not our right to stop her, she will just have to face the consequences. This question implies to me that we would prevent women from making a choice and I believe in personal responsibility and personal freedom. I also believe in punishment for those that break the rules. 2. Require companies to hire more women & minorities Strongly disagree, this will happen on its own as our society becomes more integrated. Special laws that may limit opportunities for others is counter-productive. Of course, obvious signs of discrimination should be sought out and dealt with and I would support increasing penalties if somebody is found guilty of such action. 3. Sexual Orientation protected by civil rights laws Strongly disagree, sexual orientation is not something that should be covered by laws except under discrimination legislation. I don't want various sets of laws for whatever somebody decides to have sex with. 4. Teach Values in public schools Strongly agree, There are certain values that should apply to everyone living in a society such as obeying laws, right and wrong, respectfulness. Issues such as religion are best left to the parents and community. 5. Death Penalty Strongly agree 6. Mandatory 3-strike sentencing laws Strongly disagree, Too many cases of people getting felonies for BS stuff that fall into this category. A simple redesign of laws to increase punishment for each instance of offenses is sufficient. 7. Absolute Right to Gun Ownership Strongly disagree, Only those who have proven to be responsible should be allowed to have them. Felons should not. 8. More Federal funding for health coverage Strongly disagree, This is something everyone should provide for themselves. If you can't afford it perhaps you should look at the mistakes you've made in your life, correct them, and move on. 9. Privatize Social Security Strongly disagree, People pay into this and there are simply too many irresponsible people who would spend their money and end up broke thereby becoming a burden on the rest of society. As long as the program is paid for by the people themselves I have no issue with it. Perhaps do something like this with healthcare. 10. Parents Choose Schools via vouchers Strongly agree, Let parents decide what schools should teach to their children and keep them in business by sending them their business. The schools that underperform will quickly find themselves with no students and no funds. This will also reign in organizations such as the teachers unions if not completely eliminate them. Let parents decide which teachers are valuable and let the schools reward them on basis of performance, not union negotiated raises. 11. Replace coal & oil with alternatives Neutral, It depends what types of alternatives you are referring to. I have no problem with increasing funding for research into alternative fuels that could replace oil and coal. There are many interesting prospects out there. 12. Enforce Laws against Drugs Strongly agree, Why you would not want to enforce any law is beyond me. If you don't like the law then change it but if its on the books it should be vigorously pursued. 13. Allow churches to provide welfare services Strongly agree, I wasn't aware they couldn't. The Church has a long history of providing welfare to its members. If your referring to government welfare I am against that in principle anyways so would not agree with that. 14. Make Taxes more progressive Neutral, I would need to see greater detail 15. Illegal Immigrants earn citizenship Neutral, As far as I know they have a path to citizenship already. Until then they need to get out. 16. Support & Expand Free Trade Strongly disagree, Too many ways for this to be abused without oversight and regulation. 17. More Spending on the Armed Forces Strongly disagree, Our military is still designed with a Cold War mentality and needs a serious overhaul. The methods and materials we have today are designed to fight a war we are not likely to face anytime soon. I could redesign our military to operate at half our current expenditure and make it more effective. 18. Stricter Limits on campaign funding Strongly disagree, As we've seen from the republican nomination process and the general election, campaign funds do not matter. The fears of super-pacs did not happen as many people claimed. At worse the American people are subject to a few more ads on television but that's about it. Nobody is buying their way into office. It actually seems to have made it an even playing field with neither candidate able to outspend each other and actually having to rely on their message instead of a better funded campaign. 19. Patriot Act Harms civil liberties Strongly agree 20. US Troops out of Iraq & Afganistan Strongly agree Never should have been there in the first place in force. This goes back to how our military is not designed for current situations. We should have went in with small units, did the deed, and left. No reason to occupy a country for years.
I have some questions. Right, in the sense of inalienable right to freedom or god given right? Require to hire, as in hire whoever comes through the door or hire a woman or minority who is equally qualified? Heterosexuals to be not discriminated against? What values? Would that exclude appeals? Would that include parking violations? After all, breaking the law is breaking the law. Would that include those who are incarcerated and people under arrest? Absolute is absolute, no exceptions. Would voting no mean stopping Medicare right now? No more means no more. Would voting yes mean total federal takeover? At least it would pay the Medicare Would that mean we would all get robbed like the pensioners in Chile? Would that be a traditional IRA or a Roth IRA type transfer? Would parents still be able to choose schools by moving to another school district or would that become illegal? What sort of alternatives? Vegetables is an idea but then what would we eat? We could render the children and elderly for fuel. That would reduce the population and the price of oil would plummet. Are the police not doing that already? Don't they do that already? Are you meaning they should do that exclusively, with government money? Progressive for who? How? Why? Shouldn't we figure out where all that spending is going before we spend more? How would you define that? Would it include funding to support partisan news networks and talk shows? Which ones, specifically? I am not a terrorist, why should I care? When? You posted this, answer my questions yourself.

I want the free market to dicate what people use, not DC politicians. If an alternative is equally or more efficent than fossil fuels then the force of the consumers through capitalism will reflect that.
not to mention a lot of people working with fossil fuels in america will lose their jobs if they are replaced by other sources of energy

I support outlawing abortions so we'll have more children so they can be taught in private schools the value of being sent off to die in pointless wars for oil and coal, instead of wind and solar.
Right in the sense of constitutional rights Strongly Support - abortion is 100% a womans choice and there should be 0 restrictions all the way to birth & abortions should be 100% covered by the government/health insurance Support - abortion is a womans choice. ban late tern abortions like partial birth. government should pay for the poor's abortions. basically pro choice with some restrictions Oppose - ban abortion on demand. allow in certain situations such as incest and rape cases Strongly Oppose - ban all abortions. prosecute violators such as abortion doctors no. this means hiring people for jobs only because of their race/gender. doesnt necessarily apply to who scores better on tests/has better credentials. In the sense of marriage. this question pertains to marriage. strongly support - full gay marriage Support - support civil unions over the term marriage Oppose - Gays can get civil unions but not marriage Strongly oppose - no civil unions no mariage for gays sorry i have to go somewhere now. i'll come back and answer the rest tonite
