After being an American raised in another country, one that held little reservation for individual liberties, I moved to the US because I was under the impression people in the US were able to exercise their liberties as long as they didn't infringe on those of others. Now that I am here, I find there are many trying to eliminate those civil liberties I came to enjoy and are trying to convince Americans that is an acceptable thing. Were they raised in my shoes, and seen the things I have seen they wouldn't have so little disregard for the civil liberties so many have died to preserve.

At this point in time the answer is yes. A blind man can see where this is going. I will not hesitate when the time comes. And if the left continues on it's present course in the US that time will come.

 

Not that you have asked, but I don't. Seems like a waste of negative energy for me.

Not reflexively, no. I have a number of dear friends who occupy nearly every part of the political spectrum, and we often have quite spirited and lively discussions about a broad range of issues; but it doesn't undermine our friendships. Often, it strengthens them as we find common ground on some issues and discuss the divides on others. We achieve that by respecting each other and speaking to each other from that point.

Sadly, the current political climate has cost me some of those friends; not because of my choice but theirs. They have arrived at where they simply cannot tolerate dissent, and have severed ties with anyone that won't conform to their worldview.

I only become acerbic and uncompromising when people start spouting off about how my views don't matter and I deserve to have my rights stripped from me and I deserve to be subjected to violence if I won't comply. That gets my back up right quick, and no, I don't like people who would make such pronouncements one bit.

 

We will and we're doing well Thank you! The small vestiges of resistances left reside in states that will eventually recognize the foolishness of their position.

 

I'm not sure I get where you are coming from. Liberals have proven time and again exactly what hypocrites they are. I didn't think that was in dispute. The left keeps moving further left, there is no longer room for compromise, there is no longer a place for common ground. Until the left moderates itself there simply is no reason to show them anything but contempt...
