The USA currently has a Thug problem, with law abiding citizens fearful of walking the streets. Some say that a potential solution to this is to change the law, in order to reduce the burden of proof required if a Thug is shot in self-defense. What do YOU think? I voted that the police should shoot em, not us (option 3).
Odd, there's already self defense laws in many states, and I don't think any of those laws specifically target "Thugs" What exactly is a "Thug" anyway? I'd need a concise definition of what constitutes a "Thug".

I am a dual American-Israeli citizen. I have lived in New York, and have seen Thugs with my own eyes -- they are low IQ, highly irrational and predisposed to violence. I believe that the brave American police are best equipped to shoot the Thugs.

here's about 800,000 cops, and they all need time off and supervision. Any place that you want a man to be, 24-7, you need five men. We need a lot, LOT more protection from thugs than can ever be offered by police. There's more people with concealed carry permits, just in Texas, than there are cops in the US! by having 50x as many (vetted and trained) people be armed, we catch or divert a lot more criminals - - - Updated - - - there's plenty of white thugs. We killed them by the millions in WW2 in Europe.
Your poll is rather dumb and too simplistic. The real question is, does a lawful citizen have the right to use deadly force with any typical weapon: knife, sword, axe, spear, bow and arrow, shotgun, rifle or (best overall) a handgun---to denfend themselves against bodily harm? This should not only include assaults from thugs like Trayvon and Michael Brown, but also from nice-looking people like Ted Bundy. If you say no, then you do not support this most important individual freedom, the right to self defence and self-preservation---and you are probably a criminal, or have one living in your house. If you think only the police, military and the armed security of the rich and powerful have this right---then you are a leftwing socialist---hardly better than street thugs.
I encountered a lot of ignoramous thugs in West Virginia, Czech Republic, Ireland, and England. They get drunk all day long, yell and moan about sports and other silliness, and tend to be racist pricks against non-whites. Yes, we should be able to defend ourselves against these thugs when they try to rob us.
if ALL they want is to take your money, you'll be lucky. Many want to beat/rape/kill/enslave you. I"m not going to wait to find out their intentions. If, after they attack me, I get the 3/4 second necessary to make a concealed draw and hit, they're going to get shot. If I get enough advance warning to pull my gun and they stop with no shots having to be fired, good for me.
