Hay, Al Franken did it. So did Jessie Ventura. Both are radical liberal democrats. A comedian and a pro wrestler. Franken is still funny as a senator. Jessie was dropped on his head too much.

ok, this is funny but I heard it on the news in the car as a blurb and I thought it was Chris Rock, and funny but I thought both of them would be terrific and a welcome addition to the circus. Hell why not.

Besides the fact that I think he had two songs that I like and 99 others that were just terrible, and one episode of triple D, I know absolutely nothing about the man at all so I haven't the slightest idea where he stands on issues or any idea if he's serious. I can't vote for him but would I? since its hypothetical I'll say absolutely YES.

    Sure trump is anti-establishment

BUT the GOP in general is certainly still establishment, although they do have a bit of a convoluted mess on the bottom end with the tea party and the spattering of extreme's as well, its been multiplied because there are some straight up anti-trumps on the gop side as well, probably more than we think but currently they are towing the line for the most part, that may change for better or worse in months to come. the Dem's are dealing with their same issues but are united at least in the anti trump area, which includes almost everything, with slim majorities it only takes a few to screw things up.

TBH I like it when the few screw things up, usually there's a reason, I prefer wildcards that vote their conscious vs partisan button pushers all week long and twice on sunday.

Even cruz is a good example, I don't like the man a single bit and generally speaking he's pretty much an azhole but he serves a purpose, if he represented florida he would be a hard vote for me, his opponent would really have to suck.

Cruz: as distasteful as I find him, I think we're better off having him in congress than we are without.

Paul: he's everything I wished G. Johnson would have been, he was my real choice.

Carson: Didn't have the charisma, a little flakey but I still like him.

...and this is a GOOD thing. Entrenched career politicians is one of the things that is wrong with our government. They spend 90% of their time, and make 100% of their legislative decisions, focused on their re-election, and not the good of the country.

Where are today's Thomas Jefferson's? I don't know, but one thing is obvious: They're not anywhere near Washington DC, and they're too smart to want anything to do with modern politics.

My sincere hope is that every single incumbent finds his career ended by a political outsider. And, that those outsiders go in and "string up" the entrenched deep state, returning our governance to one of the people and for the people, from the clutches of the ruling elite, who have a different set of rules governing them.

I thought it was funny at first, but, after thinking about it, why not? If I have to choose between a successful politician/conniving psychopath or an inexperienced celebrity with genuine good intentions, then I choose the celebrity. If I'm on a ship, I would rather have an inexperienced captain that tries to avoid icebergs, not an experienced one that hits them on purpose.

Today's Jeffersons are avoiding serving the government, because it is too damn sleazy. (The Republicans have those types: See: Carson, Cruz, Paul, Lee, and Fiorina. These are not career politicians, but those that have new ideas, principles, and are not looking to feed the beast.)

When are the Democrats going to have their own TEA Party? It's pathetic that they continue to re-elect the same scumbags.

I can replace him on the named list. There are plenty more to choose from.

Remember Ronald Reagan? Every politician is an actor....don't kid yourself. We just need actors with American Constitutional values. Wealth redistribution is not one of them.

Well here is more info on him. My point is, Thompson was a well known name, before he became an actor and then politician. For the record, this isn't an issue for me, I am just providing info.
