Post something "negative" about yourself.

I am a diagnosed sociopath with a large side order of thrill seeking behavior.

In 1985 at the age of 18 when the marines wouldn't take me I went to work for a company called Dynalectron, then moved through a succession of similar but progressively lower profile companies for the next 10 Years or so as I seem to have a problem with authority.

I'll leave the rest to your imagination.

 

I am a risk taker. I have done such foolish things as chase storms and lightning. I once looked unto a tornado. After the service, I have shut down emotions and expend them or risky things to prove to myself that I am still alive. My wife and I were hit by a train a year and a half ago, but since we survived, reliving it is fun, because we are still here. Like Gateman-Wen, I have a problem with authority. After I earned a MA with thesis and 9 hours toward a PHD in four semesters, a job counselor told me that I should lie about my Vietnam era service if I wanted a good job. After being told that my kind wasn't wanted, I finished the semester, dropped out and promised that insofar as it was possible I would never again let another human determine my destiny. I left the university to farm.

 

I drink more than I should. I over analyze everything, my brain may explode. I don't work because of a disability and it is rare to just clear my mind. I'm judgmental but I'm working on that.

 

1. I'm not as thin as I'd like to be.
2. I have a very dark sense of humor.
3. In "real life" I'm what most people call insensitive (well, sometimes here, too). I mean really, I often tell people that their feelings don't matter (normally in a discussion of facts). For example, a woman told me that the gym was a hostile place and that they should have hours where men aren't allowed because she doesn't feel safe working out around men - and I told her that that her feelings don't matter, because someone could just as easily said "I don't feel comfortable around blacks...", and you can imagine the rest.
4. My beard is not as much like a Viking Jarl's as it should be.

 

It's really a matter of degree of investment. Some folks tend to invest too much emotional value and others tend to invest too little. Those who are truly dis-invested in syppathy or empathy are sociopaths.

 

I am not as tolerant of certain individuals as I likely should be. I also do not like being around Obese people and am in some ways disgusted...mostly with women.

 

I sometimes cuss in text (forums), although always abbreviated....but never use a single word in real life.


Anyway, a negative:

I sometimes read posts here by people I already know are complete idiots and way beneath me.

Same here. I'm selfish with my time, which is why I have taken extreme precautions to not have children. I'm moody and sometimes don't want to be social at all -- where I even ignore texts for days -- and at other times, I want to be around people having a great time. I tend to see flaws in others before I see assets, as if I'm finding excuses to dislike them and avoid them. I'm not a good friend and often go long periods without talking to my best friends. When I go on sight-seeing excursions, I prefer to go alone because friends just slow me down. For group projects in school and at work, I tended to just do it all myself to prevent hassles. I am not a team player.

 

I have no patience for stupidity. The older I get (48 now), the less patience I have. Mainly because I now know how precious time is. I do not feel the need to waste it on fools.
