What is Obama saying? Is it any different than Romney? How will Obama stop Iran?

 

No one said they've got nukes yet, they are working on a nuclear program though, which is against the wishes of the international community. Whether or not you believe that Ahmadinejad wants to wipe Israel off the map or just arm his country against them in the line of defense.

Obama saying we need to make sure Iran isn't making weapons. Romney saying we need to stop Iran from making weapons. Guess you probably don't see the difference there.

Obama said we have to stop Iran from making nuclear weapons. Which means attacking them before they do. He said we can not allow Iran to have nuclear weapons. Now if you think that is better, than you and I have a problem.

What you have in fact asked for are versions of what people think is going on reprinted by the media.

As I am sure you may be aware what the media reports is second hand comments none of which can be substantiated
and therefore should be carefully scrutinized. There is no way you and I could know what in a news story is planted disinformation, what is speculated theory and what is simply fabricated.

The way journalists report these days, they pose both speculation and subjective opinion as fact.

Here is what I can tell you. The rhetoric of the current Iranian President is real. There he is at the UN today and he will be there tomorrow making outrageous comments about Israel.

Here is the point. If you were an Israeli and a foreign leader was calling for your destruction do you sit around hoping he is bluffing? Have you ever had someone point a gun in your face? Do you think you could sit there and not flinch?

Tell me..if you came across a boy less than a foot from your face in an alley with a small bomb what would you do?Shoot him? Let him go? Spank him? Hmmmm?

See we speculate in our armchairs at a distance about such situations but you and I do not and will never know what is behind and underneath the media messages nor should you think you can know what one will do when faced with impending threats of existential demise. Easy to speculate when the bomb is not in your face and could go off.

I personally believe Iran has sufficient chemical weapons to attack Israel and unlike a nuclear bomb the fall out would be much more limited, probably killing less Muslims next door after the fall out and unlike a nuclear explosion the third holiest site in Islam would not be destroyed by a bomb blast and the infrastructure would remain and not have to be rebuilt. Hey think how convenient it would be to just have to shovel up and dump the Israelis into the sea instead of being stuck with radioactive soil for 10,000 years.

Sometimes I can't help wonder whether the nuclear story may simply be a cover story for chemical weapon capacity. sSilly me. where do I get these flights of fancy.

Therein lies the problem. Toay's enemy has no uniform. They take the shape and reflect the environment they live in and blend in with the masses.

It is unrealistic to think you can fight an invisible enemy with conventional military tactics.

Conventional air strikes have given way to cyber attacks and long drawn out field battles now are
replaced by targetted assassinations.

People die in war and it never makes it to the papers.

May I suggest you remain in your suburb and refocus to getting a job, a meaningful education and working
for a charity since the world I come from damages you.

Bibi has been telling us Iran had a nuclear weapons as far back as 1992.. followed by Rumsfeld claiming Iran had missles that will reach the US.

 

Me personally I think they have had both nuclear and chemical and Lord only knows what else. Nothing Marg would surprise me. I do by the way regularly read the CS Monitor. Read the articles you mentioned. Interesting.

Marg to know an Israeli is to know they are existentialists. They are resigned to a world of a constant challenge to exist.

To collectively be able to survive a holocaust and then all the continuing attacks and hostility they of course have developed a coping mechanism where they have to continue to live each day. If they could not they would have self
destructed by now with fear.

So they have this sort of matter of fact, resigned acceptance that there will never be a day where someone does not challenge their right to exist. Another day another existential crisis and threat.

So don't mistake that as complacency. Its the way they cope.

Most are no longer traditionally religious. Like me they see life and death in more practical terms.

They taught me as did the Beduins that life is as fleeting as sand passing in the wind.

It passes ever so quickly and suddenly and just when you think its gone forever it comes back in a huge
cloud choking one's ability to breath.

Me Marg I saw enough to know life for an Israeli is not something I envy. Its hard work. It is a pain in the ass
actually but they do what we all do, live each day as best they can.

I am attached to them by collective spirit. There is no choice in that matter. If they do not continue to exist
I would soon shrivel up. That said, I doubt any of them or myself relishes war. In fact the only ones I know
can't stand war. Then again I know Palestinians that feel the same way.

As for the US, I think they are the only thing between you, me and extremist Islamic fundamentalism.

Educate yourself on the Libertarian Foreign Policy. It's the best Foreign Policy by any party.

 

My problem with you, is you want to condemn Romney as leading us into war with Iran and dismiss what Obama said that could lead us into war. Both are saying the same thing and we both know it.

I totally agree with you. But that's true for both Obama and Romney.

Personally I think our side is bluffing. I don't think anyone is going to attack Iran, even if they get nuclear weapons. (Maybe Israel would). It would put us in another war and fuel prices would go over ten dollars a gallon and bring this economy completely down.

I don't think Iran is stupid enough to attack Israel with nuclear weapons knowing that Israel has enough to flatten every Iranian city with their land based, air and nuclear armed submarines. Plus Iran would have to worry about America shooting them off at her also.

 

You have failed this thread because you failed to prove that anyone, of any worth, has stated that Iran has nukes.
Were talking about their progress towards getting a nuke needs to stop before they do get one. Not try to stop them after it's too late.

"of any worth" being the key. The scared to death Republicans have already spoke and said we need to address the issue before it is proven. Nearly every Republican I talk to has the same perspective and Romney is attacking Obama for not being aggressive enough.
