Whistling girls and crowing hens always come to no good ends. (An Irish proverb) (Something a Father might say to his daughter if she tries to whistle.)
My grandfather told me the three most important things needed to acquire wisdom are: 1) Never reveal everything you know.
I was just looking through a thread on UFOs and after reading comments that denied their existence, I thought of the following quote from "Hamlet" “There are more things in Heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” (*) (*). https://nosweatshakespeare.com/quotes/famous/there-are-more-things-in-heaven-and-earth/
Advice to my kids growing up: "Take care of business or business will take care of you!" Things like, "I couldn't enroll in school because I didn't sign up for the draft." Or, "DMV won't renew my license because I forgot to pay my insurance." LOL.
How to fix almost everything: Duct tape for when it moves and you don't want it to, WD40 for when it won't move and you want it to.
Quote from E.A. Poe: "If I could dwell where Israfel hath dwelt and he where I, "A bolder note than this might swell from my lyre within the sky." I think that's the way that the quote goes...
Very cool! Thanks for reminding me about that poem. I couldn't remember it exactly, so I went and reread the poem. https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poems/48628/israfel
Years ago, when I pulled into the driveway with a new sports car I bought, one of my uncles came outside to check it out. He looked it over, put some change under the front seat for good luck and said, "Someday you will come to realize that a car is just a means of transportation to get you from point A to point B".
Thanks for your kind words. That quote used to come to mind long ago when I used to race bicycles. "If only I could afford a really nice bicycle....." Enjoy your evening,
"Okay, your cell is dead. I'm sorry for your loss. What can I do for you?" – Raylan Givens, "Justified" You sometimes wonder how some people can move around without that cell phone in their hands.
Quotes from Dwight D Eisenhower (I wish we could bring him back to life.) Eisenhower wrote or spoke these words in the 1950's and 1960's. Now, some 60-70 years later, as we think about America in 2023, notice how they still ring true in light of current events. "The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible ..." "I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity." "I despise people who go to the gutter on either the right or the left and hurl rocks at those in the center." "No one should ever sit in this office over 70 years old, and that I know." "I think that people want peace so much that one of these days government had better get out of their way and let them have it." "Only Americans can hurt America."
This applies to Donald J. Trump and his six co-conspirators. Now America strikes back. https://www.justice.gov/storage/US_v_Trump_23_cr_257.pdf
