Pregnant Australian woman arrested for "inciting" protest through Facebook post

    A pregnant woman in Australia was arrested for allegedly "inciting" a protest against the coronavirus lockdown after she made a post on Facebook.

    Australia is currently banning outdoor gatherings of people and not allowing any protests.

    This is how free speech works "down under", apparently.

    The Victorian government managed to get state of emergency powers extended for another 6 months (when MP's from the greens crossed the aisle) these laws give police draconian powers to come and... well do this.
    Welding people into their homes is probably also on the list.

    Ozz is quite the Tyrannical Dictatorship. Still have the "racist and xenophobic" closed border? No ozzy has a leg to stand on to criticize our country. Will the top Tyrants even "allow" them a moderately powered pellet gun?

    A 6 month state of emergency? Holy cow! The aussie economy is going to crash! While I feel for the citizens I think they are going to have to ask us for help. I am not sure even we will be able to.

    It's good that nobody was hurt or shot, but what about essential liberties?

    It appears this case with the pregnant woman clearly demonstrates that it is true in Australia today that liberty dies to thunderous applause.

    Thank you for making my point--liberty DOES die to thunderous applause.

    Posters like you blow off any assault on liberties, in Australia or in the US, by invoking conspiracy. Truth is stranger than fiction. People don't give a damn about liberties EXCEPT when their own are attacked.

    Yes, she was charged with speaking too damn much truth, just as Piers Corbyn was in London a few months back. She and Corbyn were handcuffed, she in her own house it seems, for speaking in public words that contradict the official narrative about Covid.

    Victorian here.

    You can absolutely say what you feel like saying. What got her into trouble was actively promoting and organizing a group meeting/protest that breaks the current Covid restrictions. It's a health issue.

    The fact that the meeting was against covid restrictions themselves probably wasn't doing her any favors either.

    Covid is not a health issue, it is a political issue. Even official data show the virus to have an infection fatality rate way less than 1, somewhere around .03 or less.

    Do you advocate that Australia be locked down and that masks be worn for the seasonal flu?

    Both have IFR with very similar rates.

    If you have 1:15 of your time to spare, the linked video will show clearly that Covid is a political event. Australia isn't mentioned, but all the important founding events are shown.

    I'm sorry to say this but that's actually not factually correct...

    As for flue this year:

    I'm sure you could work out why this was the case, but I feel like you've already made up your mind and you'll just look for evidence to support your preconceptions.

    You must be feeling really trapped at the moment and I hope things open up quickly for you (assuming you live in Victoria)
