First off I laughed a bit when I read "Republican hotbed". Texas and Florida are essentially purple states, and with taking deplorable positions such as refusing to even consider shutdowns/lockdowns even when your states effectively lead the planet in terms of infectious spread they're likely to become increasingly blue.

Republicans lost the Presidency because of COVID and it was a much deserved loss. Now in general I'm opposed to the idea of allowing Democrats full control of the Senate, due to the likely disastrous takeover by Marxist-progressives that would ensue, but when I read crap like this - when I see Republicans so damned proud of the fact that they're out to get as many people killed as possible just to stick to 'the libruls' well, I think maybe they should lose the Senate too just out of spite for their malicious callousness.

But regardless of what party ends up with final control of the Senate and the future path it sets America on there is one absolute, inescapable certainty: The Lord shall judge the COVID deniers, the anti-maskers, the greedy billionaires and their puppet politicians, and everyone else who has put selfishness and political agendas ahead of the lives of our citizens. Republicans already effectively traded away their vision of America due to their misguided COVID stance, only He knows what more they will have lost when all is said and done.

As much as California annoys me at times, I can always can comfort myself myself by knowing I would not believe that neither of those states are rational.

Guess you haven't noticed all the lefties getting caught partying without masks of course it's doubtful you wanted to that.

Leftists never manage to live by their own rules on anything and I'm not shocked in the least that they aren't with regards to COVID. Who's been busted recently? That I know of: Gav Newsom, Sen Feinstein, Mayor Lightfoot, who else?

I say lock out non-residents. Stay in your chosen cold climate-primary residence and don't be bringing your cold/flu/covid with you (and your slow driving)

number of deaths is what to watch and it's been low for months. And for your opinion as to why Biden was given the White House; there was no way in heck that Trump was getting another term, even if he got 90% of the votes. He is too disruptive for the DC crowd who need to operate in the shadows to enrich friends/family

A massive collection of college students scattered around the country.

Personally I'm pretty happy with the decisions that we've made in Florida, no harsh mandates or lockdowns. We've been compliant without being forced into crippling shutdowns, I'm good with that.

I strongly agree. DeSantis has done an excellent job during these times. I could argue with him on other points, but he's done a fine job during this time of universal deception.

I wish people would stop considering this a partisan issue.

I live in looney lefty-ville. My BFF went to the ocean to eat at a restaurant, outside, last weekend. She was shocked to see that there's no COVID at the beech.

It was extremely crowded, no masks, no distancing, crowded tables - - she left, cause, well, she's not an idiot.

Dumb people exist in every group; no group is exempt. (Maybe Mensa.)

Get in line, real estate is taking off here.

Virtually all of my new customers are coming from the Northeast, between covid and protests they are fed up. Annecdotal evidence, but Most seem to be doing well financially so they can afford to purchase a 2nd home here and then work out the details later on what to do with the other home. It's not cheap to move, especially if prices jump 30k here and drop 30k there, it can sting.

People perceive it as a partisan and political issue because it IS a political issue.

Take away the politics, fear-mongering and anxiety, and the facts show it to be just another virus. Elon Musk pointed that out awesomely last week.

We the people have been deceived and manipulated by career bureaucrats and the wicked men of Davos.

Some understand that, whilst others are still so frightened they will never understand that.

It is easier to fool a man than it is to explain to him how he has been fooled.

I already live rurally enough that prices are going up here too. I just want even more rural. Preferably vacant land to build fresh on. Just need to have water access (plenty of cheap land here, but the water table is hundreds of feet deep and a well costs more than the land). Might as well do it somewhere that still has a modicum of respect for individual rights and isn't ruled by a centralized hive of drones while I'm at it.

Same here, I mention this before but I have a local bagel shop that I used to go to at least once a week it's walking distance from my office. No masks, not since the beginning, I was there once, got my sammich to go then haven't been back, I periodically peek through the windows and no change. Their decision of course, but also my decision to skip the bagels until a future date.

Ps, Mensa not completely exempt lol, one of my dumbest customers is Mensa.

I won't go as far as saying there is a deception but to each their own. generally speaking I think he's approached it with some common sense and that pleases me.

Yes I had a new client Monday (I'm in the insurance biz), somebody who put an offer in on three houses for full asking and were turned down on the first two. It's a seller's market, big time, it might last 2 months or 2 years, who knows.

The state also has over 900,000 cases (that we know of) and has sacrificed almost 20,000 lives (again that we know of) due to Gov DeSantis' belligerent denial of the realities that Florida was and still is a massive hotbed for COVID transmission. The state is in desperate need of an enforceable mask mandate, school closures, and non-essential business shutdowns, yet the Republicans in charge are content to let people die just to stick it to the left and of course to satisfy their billionaire corporate donors.

I don't know how you could be happy with that but I'm guess you wont be happy when the state goes blue which it will do. The left largely miscalculated the intelligence and allegiance of Hispanic voters who weren't as easily duped as other demographics into supporting the doddering PE Biden who made it clear he was under the influence of the socialist far left - something which a considerable FL Latino population despised. They also overplayed their hand in the pushing the wrong candidates in house races where the echos of BLM/ANTIFA criminality still rung. I wonder if at some level they figured this was an acceptable gamble given the strong positions they managed to secure in so many other swing states.

However they wont be making these mistakes again because they were so obvious as to be easily correctable, and of course because Florida remains a swing-state. More locally appealing candidacies combined with an expanding youth vote, an influx of new voters from historically blue areas, the natural mortal departure of Florida's aging senior population who mostly vote Republican, and of course a serious infusion of 'blue cash' - will put Florida's electors, state legislature, and Governorship into the hands of Democrats. These races might be 2 and 4 years away but make no mistake the right's ignorant, selfish, belligerent, callous, and malicious COVID response in Florida will not be forgotten. I for one plan to work hard to make this happen, rallying as many Independents and former Republicans as I can because I'd rather see Florida governed by Fidel resurrected than have this state suffer another term under MoRon DeathSantis and his lackeys.

Want to be? Well I don't know about Gov Abbot in Texas but Gov DeSantis here in Florida proudly surpasses the negligence-caused casualties Gov Cuomo has.

    Yawn, boo, hiss.

He is doing awesome, I know it, my family knows it, my neighbors know it, all the people moving here know it, Florida knows it.

In the meantime states like IL and WI are shutting crap down and their numbers are worse, it's not working.

Idiots and fools, but we certainly appreciate those pension dollars being relocated down here permanently.

Meh - Desantis, like all heads of government, does some good things and does some bad things.

Up until COVID, I was a huge fan; had no complaints.

His COVID response has been "meh." Not the worst, certainly, but he had some bad missteps.

He's not the worst governor Florida has had, so, there's that.

Our house in SE Florida has appreciated over $60,000 since we bought it in 2016.

    It's going up exponentially.

We got a super fixed interest rate, so this is pleasing.
