Sure. I'm envious. I always wanted to be a total idiot, and downright ugly to boot.

Clue: I belittle people like Paltrow because it's fun to laugh at stupid. You can't fix it so you might as well laugh at it.

Give it a rest. If somebody told me they could give me all of her money but I had to also take her IQ and backwards view of the world then I would tell them where to shove that wad of cash.

    I envy no one.

Ever wonder if your party and ideology would be winning right now if the decision to intentionally flood the country with poor and dependent minorities from Mexico never happened?

Ever wonder if your party would be winning if they ever even showed that they gave a damn about the poor, minorities and Women?

You need to define your terms, Walter. You come from a different place -

"giving a damn about the poor, minorities, and women" = welfare, affirmative action, pandering

    There, that wasn't so hard.

"give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...."

you couldn't afford to buy a head of lettuce if poor Mexicans didn't harvest it for you.... nearly every restaurant in America is staffed by poor Mexicans. whiney bigots need to grow up, waste up, smell the coffee.... poor little brown skinned mayans picked that for you too.

This is why the GOP won't have a POTUS for a good while. Mid-terms, sure. POTUS? No chance.

Written long before white liberals like you decided to gain power by giving welfare to poor people who would rather have more children than work.

So the same people who want to force companies to pay their low skilled workers 15 bucks an hour are the same people who support more and more Mexicans coming here to work jobs that keep prices low for everyone?

Do you guys even know what you believe anymore? Or do you just vote for whatever helps put the most redistributed union/Gubmint money in your pocket?

    - - - Updated - - -

Because of welfare, affirmative action, and pandering? You're probably right. "Gibs me dat" is a hard force to overcome. Romney was right about that.

so.... once the brewski family made it over from poland, to hell with everyone else, eh?

I am, and have always been quite consistent. I am for paying everyone a living wage. And I am all for any plans to send the CEO's of major agribusinesses to prison for hard time if they employ undocumented workers. If there were no JOBS here in the US, Mexicans would not go north.... what for? lousy weather and even lousier healthcare? I have said all along that as soon as the Frank Perdue's of American agribusiness are breaking big rocks into little rocks wearing striped prison suits, the GOP and everyone else who sucks at the teat of business will all of a sudden be newfound supporters of dramatically liberalized immigration reform. It costs a hell of a lot less for fifty or so prison cells for the giants of American industry to sit in than it does to built a giant fence from the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico.... that's for sure. Both would be equally effective at stopping the flow of undocumented workers across our borders..... which again, you REALLY don't mind all that much as long as the lettuce is cheap and the steak comes out rare and on time.

Poland? No. They worked hard and didn't rely on welfare unlike the current crop.

You're not consistent. Your defend illegal immigration by saying it helps keep prices low, and at the same time you want to increase prices by forcing employers to pay workers more than what they are worth. It makes no sense at all. But it's a typically ignorant view of someone who never spent a day outside of Government work and/or Academia.

you don't think picking vegetables is hard work? you don't think washing dishes is hard work? have you ever gotten your hands dirty in your life, besides from the graphite in the pencils that you push?

I don't defend illegal immigration. I say if this country really doesn't want the influx of labor from Mexico and places south, there is an easy way to stop it... but, that way will never be utilized, because we really don't want to stop the influx. We just want to talk about it. And I spent a great deal of time away from those two areas. I started my career early and I am a fairly old guy. I've had time to do lots of stuff and see lots of stuff - have retired from two different careers, and have undoubtedly forgotten more in my life than you have yet to learn in yours.

You really think all of them are picking vegetables and washing dishes? Having 2 kids and being on welfare pays more money than a full time minimum wage job in many states now... how many of them exercise that option? How else could they possibly afford the 4-6 kids they are having, on average? Who's paying for that?

Depends on who you mean by "we". I'd say conservatives are much, much more likely to support stopping the influx than liberals.

And you're right, there are ways to stop it, and most of the solutions you'd almost certainly oppose ideologically.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/political-opinions-beliefs/364287-we-could-stop-illegal-immigration-if-we-wanted.html

Yeah they say that happens. Were your two jobs in Government and Academia like I suspected?

if you've got any data that shows that Mexicans come to America to go on welfare, or for the health care, instead of to work at a myriad of jobs in America that are more than happy to hire them, please show it.

I am 100% for throwing the CEO's of any company employing illegal immigrants in prison.

I served in the US Navy for 25 years... are you gonna besmirch my service even though your party is so "rah rah rah" about how great the military is? I never had a "job" in academia.... I merely went back to school after my Navy career and got an advanced degree, which I then used in private industry until I had saved a boatload of 401k bucks to augment my Navy retirement pay, and, when I qualified for a pension from THEM, I figured two pensions was plenty.... retired from everything and moved to Mexico and am having one hell of an adventure. Just got back from three weeks in Northern Italy with my wife.... Milan, Venice, Florence, Parma.... thanks to a lifetime of hard work in service to my country... I gotta tell ya, getting a pension from a grateful nation for service in harm's way is SWEET! ;)

I certainly do. Not that these facts will have any effect, since you'll just find some way to ignore them to protect your preconceptions, but here you go:

    http://cis.org/immigrant-welfare-use-2011

Figures. The only one that leftists can embrace is the one that they would employ anyway under their Marxist ideology.

Harm's way? In the Navy? When's the last time we had a naval battle with another country?

So as someone who relies financially on the US Government, even after expatriating from the US, you have a motivation to support whatever policy puts more money in your own pocket. I said something to this effect earlier. There is literally no situation where you would support decreasing the size and scope of the Government. You don't live here, so you don't have to deal with the effects of what happens. You just wait for your checks to arrive and vote for the party that promises a bigger Government budget.

There are issues with illegal immigration and both R and D are to blame.

Before we cast business owners as villians and throw them in jail, for hiring immigrants, it is helpful to keep this in mind: http://www.uscis.gov/working-united...l-workers/h-2a-temporary-agricultural-workers

As to your 25 years served in the Navy, many thanks to you for your service and many thanks to your family for the sacrifices they endured during your 25 years. You have earned your Navy pension. No issue there.

The issue is with the ever growing numbers of folks on the government dole, folks who should not be there to begin with. If we cannot take care of our Vets with healthcare at VA hospitals, adding more and more folks on the dole each year is not only unsustainable, but truly reckless.

As far as Gwyneth Paltrow goes, she represents the elitist mentality of "Let them Eat Cake" and her views on allowing a CIC to have free reign of implementing whatever he wants are scary.

nothing there shows that their motivation for immigrating was health care or social services and not employment.

I am not a Marxist. Are you suggesting that employment opportunities for illegal immigrants would not dry up in a hurry if the top leadership in those firms that routinely hire them were summarily tossed in prison? Do you not think that such an approach would be much less costly than a fence from San Diego to Brownsville?

    several points:

    1. I was in uniform from 1968 until 1993... do ya think the Navy saw any hostile action during that time?
    2. There are many places where Naval Officers serve that are not at sea yet in harm's way. I know that from personal experience.
    3. Clearly, you've never refueled at sea north of the arctic circle in the winter time if you think that the only time that sailors are in harm's way is during naval combat engagements.

Actually, my Navy pension is not anywhere near the majority of my retirement income. The lion's share depends upon the stock market of the US, which, in turn, depends upon the economy of the US, so your analysis comes up a tad short. sorry.

no argument there... as I said, nobody in power REALLY wants to cut off the flow of uber-cheap labor... they only want to talk like they do.

I am well aware of the H-2A program. Many of the albaƱiles who worked on my home renovation had previously worked in the US under that program, but came back because construction in Mexico paid better than farm work in the US.

    Thank you.

again... if the powers that be REALLY wanted to stop the flow of cheap labor, they could have and would have long ago.

no argument from me about that.
