Again, I don't hold that that to be a standard, so why would I care if a bunch of people find it acceptable or unacceptable? If two people choose to have sex, and money is exchanged for that purpose, what business or interest is it of mine? Whether or not I find it acceptable, when it's a peaceful, voluntary exchange between those people there's no justification for interference, nor is there justification for interference when someone chooses to risk his head (and life) by not wearing a helmet whilst riding a motorcycle.
Make sure you are on videotape and declare it pornography. Evidently, the USA laws accept pornography but not prostitution. Let the nitwit lawyers debate their nonsense in your behalf.
For the most part it is a victimless activity. When it is legally banned, of course, is when we get victims.
I do not see prostitution on the level of slavery, suicide or selling ones organs. Good arguments can be put forth for outlawing slavery and organ selling. Not so much for suicide (in the case where someone is in pain and will die soon anyway) What is Prostitution .. Sex Unlike slavery and organ donation, sex is legal. The illegal part is exchanging money. Exchanging money for other services is legal. Why not for Sex ? What should be illegal is allowing one of the two parties engaged in sex to rob the other party of enormous amounts of money .. just because they agreed to have sex on a regular basis. (marriage) That to me is uber prostitution ! Back on track .. Why not for Sex? The reason prostitution is illegal is because we do not abide by the constitution. The state is not supposed to impose religious beliefs/ enact laws on the basis of religious belief. Prostitution was criminalized due to religious belief.
Ancient Babylonia required all women to go to a temple and serve as a sacred prostitute at least ONCE in her life. In Cyprus, all women had to prostitute themselves, before they married, to strangers in the sanctuary of Aphrodite, and Astarte. In Phoenician temples women prostituted themselves believing that their services would appease the goddess and win her favor. Christianity seems to be the religion that wants to take all the fun out of religion.
I agree completely. What consenting adults do in private is nobody's business but their own -- as long as they are not hurting anybody.
I think it takes a high level of stupidity to engage the services of a prostitute. But, in a free country you have a right to be stupid. The government should not protect you from yourself.
The only logical reason I could imagine for making prostitution illegal is that they want to get a better handle on human traffickers trying to make money off slaves. This however seems to be a largely moot point, as legalizing prostitution would potentially allow better regulation of it. Thus making forced prostitution harder to profit from. Another issue of contention may be that some pimps, even those who employ women who have chosen to be prostitutes, may not allow their women to have any of the money they earned but rather the pimp buys them gifts thus those women are essentially not being payed for their services. A lot of people have discussed having the right (or lack thereof) to sell ones freedom and become a slave. This seems like an impossiblility, slavery requires the person be forced to perform labor against their will however, making a contractual agreement in exchange for money does imply choice even if the person changes their mind later. So it seems like selling yourself into slavery isn't neccesarily slavery if you want to get into samantics.
It's a state/local issue. There is nothing preventing a state from legalizing prostitution--Nevada gives it's counties the option to do so.
Of course it should be legal. Any mutually voluntary contract between consenting adults that does not harm third person should be legal.
Under natural rights ethics, I'd argue that a person should not be legally prevented from willing his organs to his heirs, who may then dispose of that property as they see fit. However, removing one's organs whilst still alive is nearly impossible. That generally requires a third party willing to do the job, and if that job requires killing the patient then it is homicide and therefore criminal. Self ownership implies that a man may dispose of his person as he sees fit, but his inalienable right to life prevents him from contracting that right away such that another may take his life.
um honestly guys and gals prostitution is quite legal everywhere if you think about it. frankly, you are paying one way or another to get into a womans panties lol. the guy buys her dinner, buys her flowers or other gifts, spends alot of money on dates. i mean (*)(*)(*)(*) by the time you took a woman out to dinner, then a movie, then some drinks afterwards you could very easily have spent $200+ in just a few hours and then in most cases the guy and his date are gonna get a lil frisky lol. so really, what is the (*)(*)(*)(*)ing difference in paying a woman straight up cash for sex and buying her (*)(*)(*)(*) and taking her out to achieve the same goal? im not saying women are all whores now, im just being blunt about the facts. you are spending money to get in the bed with a woman either way lol. so really, WTF??? cus lets face it, no man is gonna get in bed with a woman if he dont have a lil cash on him, no real woman will date or screw a total broke ass lol. its just life and im sorry but money is part of the relationship.
I don't know. There's that guy in England with 15 kids and not a penny to his name. I think women know they can wring us for cash and entertainment. Not that I'm disagreeing with anything else you are saying, just that I suspect there's a con going on here...
Does anyone need a kidney? I have one that I don't really need, and it can be yours for only $50,000!
well apparently england has a much better welfare system than us, so maybe that might have something to do with it. either that or he is just the unluckiest guy alive when he gets "lucky" lol.
I agree that prostitution should be legal. Slaves are not allowed be master of their bodies, it means that government is master of our bodies
