The segment was about the damage to surrounding buildings, and the fires in WTC7 in particular.

    WTC 7

Now let's try this again. Which sentence below makes more logical sense . . . A or B?

    A) We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is blow the building up. And the fire chief made that decision to blow the building up and we watched the building collapse.

    B) We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is remove the fire fighting operation. And the fire chief made that decision to remove the fire fighting operation and we watched the building collapse.

Not quite. Want to guess again?

Btw, you skipped over these two questions:

Who was the name of that alleged Fire Dept Commander again?

What rank was Silverstein in the FDNY?

I'm not guessing. Better brush up.

I didn't skip anything: he does not mention the name, and Silverstein was not a member of the FDNY.

You are just avoiding the topic, per your usual.

Don't have the documentary right in front of me nor do I feel like searching for it at the moment, so I'll just hazard a guess.

    Collapsing?

Bingo. So doesn't that sound logical that the doc makers put that clip of Silvertein in that segment because it was about the collapse of the WTC 7 and it sounds like Silverstein suggested maybe the smartest thing to do is take the building down and he said they "made that decision" and then they watched it come down and the very next scene in the documentary shows the WTC 7 coming down?

So how do you know it was really an FDNY commander he was allegedly speaking to? I mean it's been 10 years. How could that commanders name not be known by now???

So why would he be telling an FDNY commander what to do?

    OK, Pot.

Where does Silverstein tell an FDNY Commander what to do?

No thanks; I don't smoke, but that offer does explain much.

You just avoided my first question, per your usual.

He said they did what he suggested, right?

    What does it explain?

I have no idea what his name was, nor do I care. If you really want to know, do some research.

No, he said "they made the decision", not "they took my advice".

You seem to have missed the question: Since when did the FDNY ever demolish buildings?

It would be logical to follow up the quote "we watched the building collapse" with footage of the building collapsing in a documentary.

Only if you think the smartest thing to do to protect against further loss of life it to blow the building up.

Again, why would "they", the fire department, make the decision to blow the building up?

The fire chief was whomever it was that Silverstein spoke with in regards to his building. It wasn't the chief of operations according to Fire Chief Daniel Nigro, who didn't remember a conversation with Silverstein. But chief of operations is not the only commander in the Incident Command System. He could have spoke with Chief Frank Cruthers, the incident commander, or Chief Frank Fellini, the operations commander.

Silverstein, as your question points out, wasn't a member of FDNY, and he most likely didn't know a heck of a lot about FDNY rank. Without a doubt Silverstein spoke with someone at the fire department that day. What seems most likely to me is that spoke with an assistant chief under Chief Frank Fellini about his building.

They attached cables to building 6 over a period of many days and used construction equipment to pull the building down. No one attached any cables to building 7 or used any construction equipment to pull the building down.

He didn't say "we" and the "they" pronoun was qualified leaving himself out.

It was a perfectly cromulent sentence. Go back and read it again if you didn't grok.
