Heh. Ok, sorry... for the title's insult. This just a highly biased FYI post.

I was a Math/Physics major and have camped out in both for many moons - and, I dearly love both. But I've been whoring around the last couple of years with Dale Purves' Neuroscience and Lehninger Principles of Biochemistry. Both are doable, even if you're not a formal student in the fields.

But holy sheep sh*t!! Purves' Neuroscience may actually kick Misner, Thorne, and Wheelers' (Gravitatation) proverbial ass! All 1215 brain-bursting pages of it. And John Wheeler happens to be my favorite physicist! Luv that dude!!!

MTW is THE bible (and a gorgeous one, at that) of General Relativity - esp. as applied to gravitation ("Geometrodynamics"). And I camped out in that wonder for probably 10 years, off and on!!! But, if you braniacs ( and it appears that there are some here!) really want some interesting learning experiences and life adventures, check out Dale Purves' masterpiece out! I'm tellin ya... you'll thank me. Uhhh.. well, maybe not thank.

I only posted this as a recommendation so that if any of you ever grow a little stale in physics and want to try your brain at something marvelous and different, the 1st two above are the pinnacle, and interesting as hell!!! Well, IMO anyway. Of course, if GR and gravitation are your thing, MTW is first and foremost where you want to be. If you want the classic into to GR, see Bernard Schuts's classic, A First Course in general Relativity - here's the free PDF version of that entire book.

Sorry Quantum, QFD, and String Theory, etc folks. I have never found anything that compare in quality, presentation, an depth as the above.

Cheers! Don't say i never did anything for you.
