For me the two don't compare, Ukraine borders were agreed firstly by Russia, Ukraine is a full UN member, Ukraine never attacked Russia, never claimed land that is in Russia, Ukraine has one agreed leader to deal with and so on, I don't need to turn this into another Israeli thread, suffice to say that the world leaders (that you will say voted for Palestine) agree that Ukraine and Palestine are very different situations.

You write nonsense. There was a coup d'état in Ukraine in 2014. After a coup d'état, any region of any country may not recognize the rule of usurpers. Some regions refused to recognize the power of state criminals and declared their sovereignty. Russia recognized the sovereignty of these republics.
Sovereign republics asked to be admitted to Russia in a referendum. Russia took over one of them (Crimea) in 2014, the others in 2022.
At the request of the sovereign republics, Russia provided military assistance to these republics on February 24, 2022.
