https://diff.wikimedia.org/2017/09/14/wait-what-split-brain/ At the Beyond Belief conference in 2006, neuroscientist Vilayanur S. Ramachandran shocked the audience with a special case where the patient was half atheist, half religious. So - two persons are created when brain hemispheres are severed. Does this operation create two souls where previously there was one soul? In the case below one brain half becomes an atheist, the other brain half become religious. What then happens to this person(s) with respect to going to hell or heaven?
This is the same as schizophrenia, also known as a Bicameral mind, whether by a genetic defect or if traumatized (an actual physical injury that separates the two hemispheres of the brain). Julian Jaynes authored The Origin of Consciousness and the Break Down of the Bicameral Mind, and in it, he makes the claim that religion was a byproduct of humans evolving their brains to where both halves could recognize each other. People with true split brains think they are hearing voices that are not theirs. They attributed those voices to god(s). Religion satiated their angst for longing to talk to god, but it was really only themselves all along.
Found this interesting, it is just a pity that religious people never want to participate in this sort of thread, they clearly believe ignorance is bliss.
