interesting given that there are more gun owners in the USA than there are those who have some gay sex.

Gun owners are probably more interested in other things as opposed to painting sidewalks; to each their own.

there is something wrong with this. It shouldn't cost 200k to paint 4 crosswalks. 5k, 10k maybe.

Sounds like someone is getting kick backs

Or it's one hell of an intersection size wise.

It isn't that big 200k on a painting job even if you use special paint because you have to because it's a street it's still too much.

I'm not sure where they got the funds from I know in my city a lot of the business owners paid to make the district more beautiful they're okay with it in fact they all get together and vote on it. I'm not sure if that's how it works in Atlanta.

    Kick backs? Really?

"Toronto man builds park stairs for $550, irking city after $65,000 estimate"
    http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/toront...0-irking-city-after-65-000-estimate-1.3510237
"A Toronto man who spent $550 building a set of stairs in his community park says he has no regrets, despite the city’s insistence that he should have waited for a $65,000 city project to handle the problem. The city is now threatening to tear down the stairs because they were not built to regulation standards."

    The regulation standards cost $64,450!

Chump change compared to the city's budget. And nitpicking by religious types, who would love to see statues of Jesus around town, instead. Well, they just don't practice what they preach, do they?

Wouldn't it suck to get rear-ended on that crosswalk, LOL!

As for the cost and if it was worth it, I say no. Since the left loves polls, let's see how 16,491 voted.

Get outta here! What do you think is more important in a liberal city... A sidewalk representing the queer community, or starving homeless people???

That explains the vote that shows 67% thinking it wasn't worth it. You people are never in the majority anymore.

Then... the democrats claim a $454,000 savings in the news media, and demand to use that money for another entitlement project.

I know this is complicated, but the rainbow represents everyone. That is the point.

That's a lot of money for paint. But that's a govt contract for you. That said, I like that they do it.

That is because there are no black or white people. Physics! Black is the absence of color, white is the sum of all the colors in a rainbow - gives the saying "a rainbow of colors" which means that all is represented.

    True sea story.

Mid 1980's. A group of us were going to a convention in San Francisco. In the group was a Texan, a real cowboy, stetson, cowboy boots and the huge silver belt buckle.

We took a cab from the airport to our hotel. While driving through the streets of San Francisco we see this bar with a big sing "The Ram Rod."

The Texan face lit up, "Check it out, there's a country western bar in San Francisco !!!" Ram rod, the boss of a cattle drive .

We check into the hotel and a few hours later there a knock at my door. I open the door and it's the Texan asking if I wanted to go to that country western bar the "Ram Rod." I told him I was just going to kick back. So he took off for the country western bar without me.

A few hours later there's a knock on my door. There stood the Texan with a really strange expression on his face as he said "That was no country western bar...it's a freaking gay bar and they were ram rodding each other up the poop chute !!!" RAM ROD

You know, for all you people who are bitching about the price, you should try reading the link.......

To be clear, the crosswalk is actually made up of thermoplastic tiles, not paint. And while they did cost $196,000 to install, that cost actually makes up 0.3 of 1 percent of the city's transportation budget. Plus, they're expected to last for 10 years before any heavy maintenance is required.

They are made of thermoplastic tiles, not paint, which is why it costs so much, but, on the bright side, no maintenance will be required for 10 years.
