I ran into Raquel once.

Literally.

Turned a corner when she was turning the same corner coming from the other side and ran smack dab into her.

She was heading for a limo...and had two burly guards with her.

One of the venues was a comedy club.

Tommy Chong was performing, & since my boss knew I was also in the weeds biz @ the time, I was assigned security for him.

So, I'm standing outside his dressing room door, & there's a timid knocking from inside.

Thinking perhaps Tommy or his wife ( the Blond FiFi from such films as Things are tough all over) were in trouble, I quickly opened the door, & asked if everything was OK.

Tommy asks, "Hey, you wouldn't know where a guy could score a bag would you?"

I replied, "Hell, YOU'RE the reason I toke.... Take mine!" & laid my bag on him.

Got to blow a few hits w/ him before the gig.

I do have one regret in this regard. I once had a chance to party with Stevie Wonder. It's a long story but the bottom line was that I got bumped by my boss.

Two regrets: Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith were at a buddy's house - his sister worked at NBC and got to know Melanie. This was back in their prime. He was my closest friend and was supposed to call when they came over. But the jerk didn't call me until right before they left! I could have been there in five minutes. He said when they got there he totally brain farted.

Hey, I almost forgot. This was cool. Does anyone remember the cult classic, Phantasm? I used to party with two of the main characters - real names Bill Thornbury and Reggie Bannister, They were best known as popular local musicians and were friends of a friend. We ended up hanging out together quite a few times. They actually came up with the idea for Phantasm about the time we were hanging out...or at least that is about when they made the movie; the first one.

So as nearly as I can tell, that is called Twerking and it is a new variety of sub-pornographic exhibitionism that is has caught on for some reason.

I have joined some of the pure hook-up sites, where one can find anything from a buddy to a dom to gawd knows what. I had some strange offers to be sure... beyond strange... But one of the most surprising things I found were the number of beautiful young women who will put themselves on private tube channels doing some very wild, highly pornographic stuff, for free - and I mean real hardcore pornography. Each member could have their own channel. But any member could watch any other member's channel. And there were thousands of them. All for free. These young women apparently just want to be watched. They aren't getting paid. It wasn't a camgirl thing. It was purely fetish driven. First and foremost this was a dating site.

This one woman, probably about 35, had herself a little fan club. She would come on completely nude, sing and play guitar, text back and forth with men watching, do a little diddle [a group thing apparently], then play some more guitar... She often had hundreds of men, and presumably some women watching.

it was endless. All ages, up to 70s to be sure, and just about anything you can imagine.

It was all jaw-dropping.

 

Yeah those channels are free, BUT, for the really "fun" stuff, you send "coins", essentially peepshow stuff... Some of the members, male, female, or "other" make out pretty good...

One that comes to mind in particular is AFF. A lot of scammers and bots but I did get some dates. And as I said, some very strange offers but there are women just looking for a buddy, even a serious relationship.

Every now and again I am reminded of a favorite paradox; though technically not a paradox, it is still paradoxical. The Liénard–Wiechert potentials in Classical Electrodynamics haunt me a bit.

If you have a charge in motion at some distance X, and account for the time delay in our ability to measure that charge due to the time it takes for the field signal to travel that distance X, we end up with a very exact and surprising result. The electric field vector [direction] points right at [or directly away from] the true position of the particle when we receive the signal, even though the information came from previous position of the particle.

In other words, the electric field seems to magically predict where the particle will be when we recieve the signal. And there is no reason why it should. But it is an exact result obtained from the field calculations.

There is this continuous thread of strangeness in physics where past or future events seem to somehow affect the present.

Richard Feynman is famous for solving a problem in physics by showing that mathematically, a charge in motion is somehow interacting with it's future self. It comes at you as a rather benign looking Integral - a mathematical operation used in physics all the time. But when you think about what the math is saying, it becomes completely counter intuitive.
