I have always said this, I some times think LDS (latter day saints) girls preaching on the streets have more love for jesus than a Baptist, catholic or Lutheran.
Bullshit Christianity was unified Catholic = Universal Church Jesus was the head of the church The word Catholic (usually written with uppercase C in English; derived via Late Latin catholicus, from the Greek adjective καθολικός (katholikos), meaning "universal") comes from the Greek phrase καθόλου (katholou), meaning "on the whole", "according to the whole" or "in general", and is a combination of the Greek ... Once again it was unified till the eastern orthodox split it the first time and Martin Luther splitting the second time.
Screwed WHAT up? That's when we made the most catastrophic blunder in US history. And not many Dems objected to that, though it was OBVIOUS that it was a mistake of historic proportions.
Before that, Jews split it and Islam split after that. Religion does not have a unified decision making methodology, making it highly susceptible to continued splitting.
I bet dissidents disagree. Societies or political systems that don't tolerate dissidents invite abuse of power instead. Nobody becomes a dissident for fun, it is the response to (perceived) injustices. Without dissidents, there is no incentive for rulers not to enact any injustice one might feel like. I'm not sure how you measure uniformity in a way that percentages of uniformity makes sense. Such a system becomes very rigid as well as very open to interpretation and abuse. I would argue that we should pin down exactly which antitheses to European civilisation we're not willing to accept. We call those ideas "laws" (when combined with legal certainty) and we persecute people according to them. In doing so, we are able to resist the problems you suggest, while at the same time not invoke others' feelings of injustice.
What blunder in history? Uhm Islam/ Mahmoud didn't come around to 6OO AC. Islam didn't split up christianity. Who do you think your dealing with ? Most historians believe that Islam originated in Mecca and Medina at the start of the 7th century CE, approximately 600 years after the founding of Christianity. I can't say anything about other cities, but Seattle has a serious problem with affordable housing. New housing within the price range of lower income people can not be relegated out beyond exclusive suburbs, because such locations do not have the services that are required - transportation to work, etc.. People are willing to pay a LOT to live here in Seattle, so there is a capitalist tendency to build what will get the highest dollar return. But, the result of that leaves a serious problem as there is also a need for people working jobs that don't (an won't ever) pay that kind of compensation.
Seattle is a fluke, just like Chicago is with the Mercantile exchange and New York with wall street, just like WWII being a fluke in history What does this have to do with the topic?
The blunder was the twin wars in Iraq and Afghanistan - costing us trillions plus thousands of our best and accomplishing nothing. The opportunity cost we lost is too huge to be calculated. It's a worse blunder than Vietnam. It's a worse blunder than decades of support for Israeli ethnic cleansing - which proves our fundamental principles are purely transactional - not guidance in our decision making. --- Islam is an offshoot of the Abrahamic faith. They believe in the Bible. They revere Jesus as a prophet - not unlike Judaism. They revere the other prophets of the Bible. Etc. The basic differencs is that they see Muhammad as being the most recent prophet in the line of prophets of the Abrahamic faith. It is a major split, regardless of whether it is specifically a split of Christianity. I'm comfortable with what I've said.
LOL!!! And, it has to do with the topic because the cited reference states Seattle is one of the prime examples of the travesty of zoning. Didn't you bother to read the cite before you responded??
Traditionally at family reunions people find that the electrified third rail of gatherings consists of talking politics, religion, or the foibles of fellow family members. It's because people tend to emotionally draw a metaphorical line in the sand about one or all of those issues. You believe what you believe and so getting hot and bothered when what you perceive to be an attack aimed at your belief tends to agitate. (Shrug) But it's just a theory.
No it was not acknowledge as a split.. And Mahmound is retarded as John Smith was mormon who was killed with his brother in Illinois. Joseph Smith Jr. was an American religious leader and founder of Mormonism and the Latter Day Saint movement. When he was 24, Smith published the Book of Mormon. By the time of his death, 14 years later, he had attracted tens of thousands of followers and founded a religion that continues to the present. I doubt that calling a major religious leader a "moron" is a valid point in any argument, regardless of the subject. (I though you would jump on my characterization of Jesus as prophet!!)
Islam is clearly one of the Abrahamic faiths, based as it is on the Bible, accepting of the OT as is Judaism. It's not a branch of Christianity, as Islam accepts Jesus as fully human and a prophet, not a member of the trinity.
No, you said "Mahmound is retarded". I assumed you meant Muhammad and switched "retarded" to "moron", probably because of closeness to your Mormon reference.
No **** that's what I was telling you, it came along 600 AC with mahomand flying through the sky.. The Quaran mentions the Catholicism and protestant bible.
Because people get angry or they go on the attack. It's harder to do that with typed responses because you are forced to stop and think. I had people take down my funny newspaper poltical cartoons in my maintenance room Have you ever suggested their beliefs weren't true?
Changing the goal posts? Of course I said Mohammed is retarded, I didn't say mormons where morons as you insist.
that's not true there are places in the middle East where you face execution for apostasy. Fair enough it's not just within Christianity though.
?? I didn't say anything about Mormons. I have a lot of respect for modern day Mormons in the way they carry out family values.
