We've forgotten about so much of what was going on in the world before covid came along. Hong Kong is certainly one of those things.

What a shame to know that at some point, one of the greatest examples of freedom and capitalism in the East will be swallowed and ruined by one of most authoritarian communist nations on earth.

I have no particular issue with the Chinese people, but I hope nothing but the worst for the communist government of China. I pray for it's demise.

Do you think the UK should've held on to Hong Kong?

I've found myself thinking that it's too bad Hong Kong and Taiwan couldn't have formed a union.

That’s a good question, and a complex question. I would like to think that the citizens of Hong Kong should have been given some type of say in the matter, like a referendum. Maybe they did have some input on rejoining the mainland, I’m not that familiar on the handover. But, if they could have taken a vote to remain in the U.K., be a part of China, or even go independent, I think Hong Kong wouldn’t be where they are at now. Who knows.

It's Chinese People in Lying Outlaw China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Everyone is fine with Hong Kong and Free Taiwan. The issue isn't the Chinese People, the issue is the Lying Outlaw State of China.

Trump TORCHES Lying Outlaw China Over Coronavirus: ‘Incalculable Death and Destruction.’

President Donald Trump gave a brief and blistering speech against the malfeasance of the Lying Outlaw Chinese Communist Party, slamming its deception on the coronavirus pandemic and its direct assault on the independence of Hong Kong. He announced the U.S. would pull out of the Corrupt World Health Organization (WHO) and would prepare sanctions for Lying Outlaw Chinese officials involved in the crackdown on Hong Kong’s independence.

“The world is now suffering as a result of the malfeasance of the Chinese government. China’s cover-up of the Wuhan virus allowed the disease to spread all over the world, instigating a global pandemic that has cost more than 100,00 American lives and over a million lives worldwide.”

“Chinese officials ignored their reporting obligations to the World Health Organization and pressured the World Health Organization to mislead the world when the virus was first discovered by Chinese authorities. Countless lives have been taken and profound economic hardship has been inflicted all around the globe.”

Lying Outlaw Chinese authorities covered up the outbreak early on, going so far as to destroy samples of the coronavirus. When the Corrupt WHO reported that there had been some human-to-human transmission of the virus, Lying Outlaw Chinese authorities pressured it to retract that statement. At the time, Lying Outlaw China was hoarding personal protective equipment (PPE) from across the world, PPE which it later refused to send to countries that needed it unless foreign governments praised Lying Outlaw Beijing.

The Lying Outlaw Chinese Communist Party threatened doctors who dared to share information about the coronavirus and did not put Wuhan — where the outbreak originated — under lockdown until 5 million people had already left the city.

We have one quarter of Chinas population, yet we have well over 550,000 more people incarcerated than they do???? Either we have a very crime prone society, or China is far more tolerant than our judicial system???

In August 2018, a United Nations human rights panel said that it had received many credible reports that 1 million ethnic Uyghurs in China have been held in "re-education camps".
Number of inmates: Up to 1.5 million (2019 Zenz ...
    Operated by: Xinjiang government
Built by: Communist Party of China
Other names: Vocational Education and Traini...

    Xinjiang re-education camps - Wikipedia

China's prison population is another Million and half. How come you don't count the mass incarceration of the ethnic Uyghurs? Because the Lying Outlaw Government of China denies it?

The People of Hong Kong Praise President Trump for Yesterday’s Speech on China – “He Said What We All Are Thinking”
Oh sure, why they are good enough to put a government agent in the home of the incarceated ethnic Uyghur males, to share their wife's bed whle while they are being "re-educated."

China is reportedly sending men to sleep in the same beds as Uighur Muslim women while their husbands are in prison camps

Nothing says "tolerant" like jailing the men and then having government agents posted in their homes while the men are jailed, and sleeping with their wives, at will.

Revoking Hong Kong’s special status accepts reality and pisses off Lying Outlaw China

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo admitted that Hong Kong is no longer autonomous from China.

Pompeo is required by Law to annually certify Hong Kong’s autonomy from mainland China, and that law asserts that such autonomy is necessary to “justify treatment” under U.S. law that is “different to that accorded” mainland China.

Current regulation was based on an autonomous Hong Kong that has come under the thumb of Lying Outlaw China. Current law allows for easy travel between U.S. and Hong Kong and exempts the region’s exports from most U.S. tariffs, while allowing companies based there to access “sensitive technologies” made by American firms, things we do not export to Lying Outlaw China.

Currently we have free exchange of Hong Kong dollars for U.S. dollars. That may not continue given that Hong Kong is becoming is just another Chinese city.

Taiwan got SOLD OUT by the Brits as the way to open up the Chinese market for British goods. But, the U.S. government sold us out to do the same thing.

It’s shocking: the people of Hong Kong prefer the capitalism and democracy of the English speaking world over the authoritarian communism of the Beijing dictatorship.

    This is interesting!

Boris Johnson says 3m people in Hong Kong will get path to British citizenship

Boris Johnson is ready to open the door to nearly three million Hong Kong citizens if China imposes a new security law that critics say would rob the territory of its autonomy.

The Prime Minister, writing in The Times, has offered to make what he says would be one of the "biggest changes" in the history of the British visa system to allow 2.85 million Hong Kong citizens the chance of fully-fledged citizenship.

If China chooses to go ahead with its changes for the island, the PM said he would effectively upgrade the status of British National (Overseas) passports, which 350,000 people in Hong Kong hold and 2.5 million are eligible to apply for, to grant immigration rights beyond the current six month limit.

Hong Kong might effectively move from Hong Kong to the UK.
