Wow. My father is buried at Arlington so I know it's right near the Pentagon, but I didn't know wreckage made it into the cemetery.
My sister took a lot of pictures like those bottom two on 9/11. She worked about 10 blocks north of the Towers. That picture from the airport....amazingly sad. I remember the deafening silence from the lack of aircraft in the air. It was eerie for that week or so.
It's too difficult, and costly to pull off something of that magnitude for a second time. The jihadi troglodytes have resorted to "lone wolf" attacks on random soft targets, where the terror factor to victims is just as high, and the lack of investigative bread crumbs isn't there for LE to follow prior to the act being foiled.
I was in leadership school at Fort Hood, TX. I was learning how to be a Sergeant in an infantry unit and when it happened I was at first shocked and then, like you, angry. I have always wanted to be the one who killed Bin Laden. The closest I got was chasing Zarkawi around Baghdad. I don't consider that close at all. Not even the same people. Today I feel sad all day.
Oh, since you are so "knowledgeable" and have the inside scoop, do tell me what was the nationality of the terrorists? What country were they from?Help me learn
No. I fully believe they would do such a thing. I think it's more because it doesn't make sense that they would be crafty enough to do it without someone in the federal government giving them a hand.
I also live close to an airport and know a lot of people that work there. I can imagine the thoughts you and your wife were thinking. I always feel very sad on this day. I see how Dec.7th 1941 barely gets mentioned anymore on the media and I hope that doesn't happen with 9/11. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
Why does that matter? You do understand what a 'terrorist' is, right? You do know what Al Qaeda is, right?
Thank you for sharing. Too know someone personally it must have been gut wrenching. All I loss were my Rose Colored Glasses.
I was at work and it was before the company allowed easy access to the internet so TV and radio was the basic jeans of news. My wife called to tell me that a plane crashed into a really big building in NewYork. I told her it must be an accident. A few minutes later she called to tell thatvanother plane in another building just crashed into another building. I was one of the few who had a table model radio in my office so once I found a station doing live broadcasting several people ended up in my office or just outside listening to the radio. An hour later the big boss the guy with the corner office strolled out and stuck his head into my small office and said " I think that I will cancel all meetings for the rest of the day". I think I said something like "good idea no one will pay attention anyways after this ". He said " youbare a Veteran what do you think are we at war?" . I said " yep I just do not know right now with who". Then came Pentagon and Shanksville and the day went conpletely to hell. The only positive thing I can say was that we as a country did not go partisan but we rallied behind Bush.... Dems and Republicans we behaved as Americans.... too bad that did not last.
Only 3 Cantor Fitzgerald employees survived the WTC attack. I know one of them. She went down for a cup of coffee. Her legs are scared for life.
I was 39 years old. I just dropped my daughter off at kindergarten and was driving to my office in Dallas. It was a beautiful day. My dad worked in NYC. He was standing on the roof of his building and he saw the towers come down. My brother and sister knew several people who died. Some on the planes, some in the buildings.
I think that you are not correct about the fact that only 3 survived. I know that very many Cantor people died but a lot of Cantor people who survived went to work with the competition with the blessing of Cantor. Cantor could not financially afford to keep most of the survivors since they were decimated and had to rebuild slowly. Didn't they lose something like 650 out of 960 employees. For them to rebuild was a modern miracle and a tribute to the CEO... he had gitbto be one hell of a person...
