Surprisingly, it was Sara Huckabee Sanders who succinctly captured the disparity amply exposed in the evening's event in her reflux:

The choice is between normal and crazy!”

Yet everytime republicans cut taxes, they claim it’s going to benefit the people who already pay the least lol

There is a clip of Mike Lee acting outraged at the notion they’d want to cut Medicare or social security….
Which is funny when played next to a clip of him saying he wants to cut social security and Medicare lol

So clearly a problem for both POTUSes. But we are only vilifying one. The seizures from the last nine months of Trump and the first nine months of Biden are roughly the same. But we are only vilifying one.

One thing that was notably missing from it-- I'd heard mentioned by fmr. RNC Chairman Michael Steele-- was, despite her story about her journey to see the troops, with "the President," any mention, by name, of President Trump!

    Curious oversight...or rather, omission.

I actually disagree with this part of your, otherwise, clear summation of the state of play (all of which, Bluesguy should have already realized). I would guess the clear majority of Dems still see government Social Security as a salvageable fund (which I believe it is), and are not ready to divert its necessary cash flow into private accounts, because they realize-- even more so than with the school voucher system-- this would undoubtedly be Social Security's undoing.

The solution is actually quite simple, and obvious, and I must indict all in Congress, as well as at least the prior three or four Presidents, for not having the miniscule amount of courage, to propose it. People have been living longer, since the program's start, so have been drawing off the fund for a longer retirement. Common sense dictates that-- unless the deduction is increased, which I think is definitely off the table-- the retirement age must go up, at least for full benefits.

    I read,
decades ago, of how this could be painlessly done: the age should be very incrementally raised, only by one month, each year. I would even set it to begin, the following year, after it was passed, so that anyone planning to retire that year, did not need to change any arrangements. People planning to retire in two years, would only need plan for one month later. Sure, some will gripe, but that is not all that bad, if it's going to save Social Security. Likewise, if you'd had your eyes set on retiring in three years, it would change to 3 years and two months: not the end of the world.

It would take 13 years, by that plan, for the retirement age to go up by a single year. For those who would see an increase of two or three years, they are going to be so much further from retirement age, it is not going to be the primary issue of their concern.

The only thing I am unsure of, is if this plan is currently, still enough. When I'd heard it, I think a two- year increase, ultimately, would have made the fund solvent for at least another 50 years or more. But that was a long time ago. If one were to look at this in a coldly analytical way, though, one could see the good fortune-- purely from the Fund's perspective-- of our recent pandemic. Also, I've heard that U.S. overall life expectancy, has for the first time, taken a turn downward. I think this was attributed to suicides (and drug over doses may have helped). These statistics are all things, albeit morosely, for which to be grateful.

Owned them with what? His record?
    - Cowardly skedaddle from Afghanistan?
    - Arming the Taliban?
    - Spending billions protecting Ukraine's borders while leaving ours wide open?
    - 100,000 fentanyl deaths?
    - Out of control violent crime?
    - Massive inflation?
    - 2 million illegals streaming across Biden's open border?
    - Leaving America's skies as undefended as the border?

No real threat only because he promises to VETO any such bill! Meanwhile …..

"I'm here right now to tell you one thing you probably have never heard from a politician: It will be my objective to phase out Social Security, to pull it up from the roots and get rid of it,” Sen. Lee said during a campaign stop February 23, 2010, in Cache Valley, Utah. "People who advise me politically always tell me it's dangerous and I tell them, 'In that case it's not worth my running.' That's why I'm doing this, to get rid of that. Medicare and Medicaid are of the same sort, they need to be pulled up.”

It did benefit the people who pay the least, millions had their tax liabilities completely eliminated and the lower incomes got the biggest percentage cuts.

So it’s good for the rich to pay more. Then why are you complaining about it?

Quick question. Do you think people should be able to live in this country, enjoying all the benefits and opportunities it affords, and not be responsible for sharing the cost of those things?

It was like a Nuremberg Rally, but without the crowds....a carefully choreographed spectacle for the camera (where art thou Leni Riefenstahl?) and a mass audience, staged on dark, red-lit set evoking the fiery bowels of Hell, with the raving demagogue fanning the fear and hatred of his followers as he railed against the dreaded Untermenschen....and we saw echoes of the very same thing in your own post, as we so often do.

Indeed, we have seen this movie before....
