Republicans should get on board with Biden's stimulus bill.

Wait I thought it was relief for families who are suffering and hurting according to Biden. The economy doesn't need stimulus it needs to open more.

Why are we sending out free money to people who are working and earning more than they did before COVID? The city next to mine just passed their new budget and the city employees are getting a 2% raise, and they never lost a days pay. Why should they be getting free money? Unemployment is down to 6.3% and could keep falling if we get things open again by my poor state of Alabama is under 4%.

Biden is NOT proposing a solution to anything. If he puts in his policies as he did in 2009 then we are in for another painfully slow recovery and more of the worst unemployment in our modern history. Due you think Biden will dare come out and repeat what Obama said about those manufacturing jobs will never come back that you can't just wave a magic wand?

Maybe you never managed a department of people.
If you did, I bet you didn't lay off the best ones first.
And if you were a good manager you made sure your best ones made the most money.
But enjoy your fun with numbers. :)

    I agree.

"Let them eat cake" McConnell's repeated "root hog or die" attitude towards the last stimulus [he refused to even let it come up for a vote] is one of the major reasons why the GOP lost the White House and the two Georgia run-off elections.

I doubt the two Democrat senators [who are objecting to parts of the current proposed stimulus] will want to be the only two Democrats on record voting against it. Or next time they also may be voted out.

But there are no "deficit hawks" when it comes to warmongering costing billions and lives and only benefits a chosen elite.

I have managed whole companies, branches of companies, sales territories of companies and more important myself and made a very successful career and a nice living doing so so trying to claim some higher authority is a BIG fail.

Now this time try to respond to what I actually said.

When it comes to grabbing free money, the corporate welfare state is KING.

When it comes to wealth redistribution, nothing works as well as trickle-down socialism in making the poor and the middle class poorer.............
Yes, the rich got richer: Top 1% saw their wages soar by 160% since 1979, six times the increase of the bottom 90% of workers

Biden’s plans are more likely to kill the economy than revitalize it. Why do we need an addition 1.4 trillion when there are still tens of billions unspent from the earlier bills?

I think most republicans feel pretty safe at this point opposing it. They would probably rather be anti Biden than anything else at this point...... Now, if there was an election right around the corner it might be different. The next election is almost two years away, that leaves plenty of time and countless other things that will happen between now and then, that will sway voters.

And the unemployment rate was 6.3% last month and falling. The Atlanta Federal Reserve just raised it's estimate for 1st Quarter GDP UPWARDS to over NINE PERCENT. Why is Biden wanting a HUGE taxpayer funded stimulus. We need people to accept jobs and go back to work. We've seen this policy before and it was an utter failure and produced the worst recovery in modern history and things weren't nearly as bad then as now.

What the Republicans are opposing is the HUGE amount of money being spent not on COVID recovery or assistance by to fill the coffers of the progressives and their causes. The Democrats loading the bill with all their pet projects and paybacks and then when persons point it out shouting SEE THEY HATE THE CHILDREN!!!! Republicans have been pushing for targeted relief not helicopter money. There is no need for a huge stimulus bill at this time.

We finished 2020 with the worst GDP since the war ended. Don't be fooled by a favorable quarterly rate.
The labor force participation rate is still down 1.5% and many are still being paid by the PPA.
Why do you want a slow recovery?

Woosh! That one went right over your head.
The people left in your charts aren't making more money.
People making less money have been laid off moving the average up.
The last recovery was slow because the right suddenly got cheap. Biden won't let them make that same mistake twice.

Nancy Pelosi’s New COVID Bill Has 10 Crazy Examples of Waste and Kickbacks.

"1. $1 Billion for ‘Racial Justice’ for Farmers
“ ‘socially disadvantaged’ farmers and related groups — including an equity commission, agricultural training and other assistance to advance racial justice in farming,” Fox News reports.

    2. $50 Million for ‘Environmental Justice’ Grants
“thinly-veiled kickbacks” going to left-wing political groups."

    3. $112 Million for California Transit Project
"In an expenditure with zero apparent connection to COVID-19, the new bill allocates $112 million for the “Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) expansion” program. The money would largely go to a specific “underground rail project in Silicon Valley,” Fox Business reports.

    4. $10 Million for Native American Language Preservation
"Bill gives a $10 million appropriation to “ensure the survival and continuing vitality of Native American languages during and after the public health emergency.”

    5. $200 Million for Museum and Library Services
"the Institute of Museum and Library Services (did you even know that was a thing?) would be allocated $200 million in taxpayer money."

    6. $750 Million for ‘Global Health’
"For global health problems and vaccination efforts in other countries." We're givers!

    7. $750 Million for Native American Housing
“housing assistance and supportive services programs for Native Americans.”

    8. Expansion of Obamacare Subsidies
"expand Obamacare subsidies and eliminate caps that prohibit them from going to high-income individuals."

    9. Billions for Public Schools Whether They Reopen or Not
"$129 billion for K-12 schools, ostensibly earmarked for helping them reopen. But it’s actually just a handout for teachers’ unions and public schools. They get the money regardless of whether they reopen or not, and much of it is allocated for spending in 2022 through 2028, long after the pandemic."

    10. Countless Pet Projects for Powerful Lawmakers
"$1.5 million it allocates for the Seaway International Bridge. The bridge “connects New York to Canada and is a priority for New York Sen. Chuck Schumer,” the Wall Street Journal notes. "

It's always, all about the Vig!

Oh now that the quarterly rate shows we don't need a stimulus you claim we should only look at annual! What utter garbage. And not just A quarterly we have had successive solid increases and now this huge increase in the predicted for this quarter And you know how you get the LFPR down? It's not by handing out free money. We have almost a record of unfilled jobs if you pay people to not work they will continue to by unfilled.

Midterms tend to be a menace for the Presidents party. More often than not seats are lost and at times a majority. With this in mind President Biden and the Democrats in Congress should pass as many bills as possible with or without GOP support. If the legislation resonates with the electorate, it will make it more difficult for the republicans to reverse course when they get back into power.

Yeah, it's fine if you want the economy stagnate for the next 8 years.

    upload_2021-2-23_15-43-51.png

You get the labor force rate back by getting kids back in school.
That means getting the virus down and out.
Things will be good again. Just watch and enjoy.

    Go Joe, go.

Republicans should oppose every single dollar spent on COVID relief, including purchasing vaccines, as well as any stimulus money, direct or indirect.

They should stick to their fiscal conservatives guns for the next 4 years !

I'm not sure what news you consume, but it must be pretty selective if you think the virus has disappeared from it. And that's even if I assume you were exaggerating a bit.

Said the same exact thing to my wife. He had a golden opportunity to put the election to bed then and there, and all he had to do to seize it was act like an adult. Or barring that, step aside and let real adults handle it.

He did neither. But then I suppose it's unreasonable to expect him to be an adult just as it would be unreasonable to expect a 10 year old to do the same. And if I was a betting man, my money would be on the 10 year old before it would be on Trump.

ROFL ahhhh those kids aren't counted and won't be for years until they enter the workforce. You increase the LFPR the way Trump and the Republicans did, with pro-business, pro-growth policies and apply strict workrules to government subsistence payments, just as Gingrich and Kasich did the Bush43 and the Republicans did. And with the full employment they created wages go up and even more people go back to work. Unemployment is just 6.3% now and was falling even more. The new virus cases are WAY down. GDP projections up from 4% to over 9% for this quarter.

We don't need this massive Democrat spending bill for payback to their PAC's and corporate friends and to entice people not to go to work but stay on government subsistence.

The Republicans are ALL FOR COVID relief for those who NEED relief. They are against all the spending the Dems have put in this bill that have NOTHING to do with COVID relief and payments to persons who are working and making their paychecks just as they did before COVID which is the vast majority. And yes they should stick to their conservative guns over that non-COVID spending and you should be supporting that.

Do you really support this bloated payback bill the Dems are trying to shove down the throats of the taxpayers?

No they prefer the "if you oppose this bill it means you want CHILD to be starving and naked in the streets as they and their parents die of COVID!!!!!!" smears rather than a reasoned discussion of justification of all their pork barrel spending they have shoved into the bill.

ONLY if we bend the knee to them and their ridiculous edicts. The virus can't "fizzle out" because they'll always stoke fear over the newest - and completely normal- mutations that WILL occur naturally. A lot of folks in the EU are beginning to vigorously protest the outrages of the commiecrats over there. Still, they've nearly accomplished their goal of economic collapse and "reset". Won't surprise me at all if it happens this year.
