You are making that leap of logic, no one else. The OP was a light hearted, and taking every bit seriously in a OP like this is silly.

Again, that's your leap in logic.
Bible belt republican held states lead the way, that's a fact. You might want to curve your "liberal, government money at the problem" rants and take a look at republican held states and over a billion US tax dollars being thrown at a failed abstinence only sex education program over the past decade.

Again, a light hearted thread you are taking far too seriously.

Maybe teaching a combination of abstinence and safe sex would be more helpful in reducing the rate of pregnancy among teenagers.

But then the religious groups wouldn't like that, because birth control is evil and you'll go to hell if you use it.

Actually, this was a light hearted and comedic article in the OP, some lighter fare for the masses.

Now if you read into that as some sort of rambling diatribe about republicans that is your problem, not mine. Perhaps you would be best served not taking things int he off topic section so seriously.

    There's a "Humor" section also.

I notice you didn't post the article there however.

Seems to me you wanted an element of it taken seriously.

Here's the section where the thread belongs, if indeed it is satiric....

    Humor & Satire
    Political jokes, parodies, and more

Off-topic is for discussions not related to policitc, yet clearly the OP is all about politics, though satirical politics.

If you preferred for the article you posted to be interpreted political satire...the Humor & Satire section would have been the better choice
    to post it.

We're not mind readers, merely because it's "Off-Topic" doesn't infer the discussion shouldn't be taken seriously...it's merely discussions
not solely based in politics...and teen pregnancies certainly transcends politics as it effects all demographics despite Kronikcope's attempt to paint
a picture that teen pregnancies only occur in poor Southern states...statistics say otherwise.

New York leads the nation in the rate for teen abortions, and New York is about as Blue as it gets in terms of politics.'
Last time I checked a teen needs to be pregnant in order to get an abortion...this infers New York has a higher rate of teen pregnancies
    just not teen birth rates.

    From the OP.

A rather amusing little opinion piece with some logical (perry style) extensions filled in.

if you don't like where I put it, you can always inform the mods or just get over it.

    Why isn't in Political Opinions?

I don't care where it's posted, but you're getting mad because I challenged the article
as political shillery...I'm not attacking you, I'm attacking the author who thinks
they're a regular Mark Twain of political satire.

    From Wikipedia...

The Texas Observer (also known as the Observer) is an American political newsmagazine published bi-weekly and based in Downtown Austin, Texas.
The non-profit magazine is nonpartisan, but the publication has historically been an advocate for liberal politics.

The author's name is Cindy Casares

Dear Ms. Casares, on the small probability you googled your name and lo and behold, this
post in Political Form is cited...and on the even smaller probability you clicked
on the post and read it.

    Non-partisan newspaper?

Ms. Casares, you're a poliitcal hack and shill...your satiric piece mocking abstinence as a legitimate means
to address teen pregnancies, is garbage. You are no Mark Twain.

do have a nice day Ms. Casares

I'm not really sold on Gov. Perry at the moment actually.

On appearances he seems to be George W. Bush II.

I've also admitted that teen birth statistics in Texas indicate abstinence only programs
have no positive effect. However the op/ed piece mocks religious beliefs more so than anything
else...which I take offense at. Never said Ms. Casares doesn't have a right to her opinion, but
it's my right to an opinion also to refer to her as a Liberal shill. At least Mark Twain..the master
of poltical satire...made fun of everyone.

Mark Twain often made of religion by the way.

However his commentary was on society in general...and not
designed with an ulterior motive to advance a particular political agenda.
