Rights come from the barrel of a gun

    they are established by (and perforce, must be maintained by) the ability (and willingness) to HARM those who WILL usurp those rights (if they are allowed to do so). All the paper constitutions in the world don't do a thing towards protecting freedoms, if nobody is willing/able to maim/kill people who try to violate the rights of others (by laws or deeds). Animals and little kids, if they have rights at all, have them only because adults are able (and willing) to effectively fight to protect them.

    we all DO understand the right of a monkey to kick, gouge, bite, etc, the hyena that is trying to eat him. Well, mankind's predators are "humans"(of a sort) and we have ways of effectively resisting those predations. And if we do not USE those ways (when preyed upon) then we deserve to be food for those predators. Ever notice that coyotes don't attack (adult) grizzly bears? It's really all that simple.
