If either the victim ( Kennedy) or the perpetrator ( simpson) is a celebrity, the publicity of the trial ends up with both becoming celebrities. One becomes more famous, the other becomes infamous. 'Doing life' in prison is about a combination of circumstances, not one. The original sentence, ones behavior, how one's conduct is perceived in prison ( good boy or naughty boy), what gets documented in your record, who sits on the parole board, your counselor, your pastor and what they say at the hearing, how the local media cover your crime, whether the family or victim show up at the hearing and what they say, , and of course your health and life expectancy, Some folks end up dead in 5 years, others live to be 89. Some have two parole hearings and two chances. Others have five bites at the parole apple.

I would argue that there was a reason it took from 1983 all the way to 2016 for all those medical reports of an asymptomatic patient to be have a real impact on his release date. Might not have taken over 30 years to get around to reading those reports, if he had not shot the President and a press secretary.

On Kennedy I ask the same basic question. How long would this take if there was no notoriety to the crime?

 

Convicted criminals denying their guilt is typical. He was soundly convicted and commited the crime. We do know who killed JFK and it was in fact Oswald who acted alone.

You are quite wrong Oswald was proven to be the shooter by a mountain of evidence and all of gthe conspiracy theories have been disproven.

I know I'd be more convinced of this conspiracy, if its adherents could agree on who the actual conspirators were. Was it the mafia and Jimmy Hoffa, Fidel Castro and the Russians, LBJ and J edgar Hoover, the CIA, the Black Panthers or was it Jackie all pissed about Marilyn Monroe?

Sirhan was the patsy in the classic sense if the word. He definitely did not fire the shot which killed Senator Kennedy.Well respected LA Coroner Thomas Noguchi who did the autopsy on RFK proved beyond a doubt that the shot that killed Kennedy came from behind him and was fired at point blank range. Sirhan never got into that position. The RFK assassination was a CIA hit. Anyone who has looked into it knows that damn well. Sirhan has been locked up for over 50 years for a crime he did not commit. Let the old guy out already.

 

I think Chauvin should have been convicted of manslaughter at best and got too long a sentence. Roof is a moron and should be treated accordingly.
