Ron Paul's plan for America is... bring military personnel home. They are doing nothing in countries like Japan and Germany, who are at peace and likely will stay that way for a long time. The cold war is over. Let's keep it
    that way.

End the Fed Reserve. It is putting restraints on the American people and small business. It props up "too big too fail" banks and is setting America up for a new depression.

Rely more and more on American sources of energy instead of Middle Eastern oil. We have tons of oil in Alaska. We can use that for our own economy.

The problem I have with Ron Paul's monetary stance is he wants to end the Federal Reserve, but his approach has too many negative consequences that he doesn't understand.

I have no problem with the insistance on ending central banking. I would agree with Ron Paul that the Federal Reserve is a tool of "too big to fail" banks. I have to contend the law he would forward to end it, The Free Competition in Currency Act.

Amen... just let the media destroy Ron Paul, then the peoples' focus will shift to pvsi.net and it will be a much more brutal and better outcome. everything is going according to the plan so far: Ron Paul, the people's favorite leader will get destroyed by the media, followed by the rise of pvsi.net and the real leadership. stand by... don't laugh.

    LMAO

Free Competition in Recreating the Sharcropper's Script you mean.

We all know the minute private currencies become legal wal mart will be paying its employees script with Sam Walton's smiling mug that are good only in Wal Mart stores.

It's a captive consumer market and the most exploitative thing imaginable.

    No thanks.

No wage earner deserves to be paid in worthless script.

How many of these "Competing Currenices" will collapse like BitCoin?

No thanks. No 19th Century bank notes, no one getting robbed at gunpoint for their coins.

    Nah. We're good.

I'm OK for reducing our role, but isolationism didn't work that great last time we tried it.

And replace it with what to manage the money supply?

Why aren't they drilling it? They're drilling it all over the US now.

Real summary: Make the government follow the Constitution. Kill programs that are illegal, cut taxes for everybody.

I saw the part where he cut the corporate taxes and eliminates estate taxes and investement taxes so the really rich guys can inherit a few billion tax free and live off it tax free (the conservative utopia).

But I didn't see where he said he would cut FICA taxes or excise taxes -- the taxes the poorer folk pay.

Maybe you can direct me on his website where he says that.

Great candidate for the trust fund babies. I can see why they love him.

Ron Paul: Sanctions Against Iran Are an ‘Act of War’

sorry Doc, you forget that they have the recourse of withdrawing from the NPT, which is the basis from sanctions being justified. no one has to do business with Iran, and Iran has no right to unilaterally blockade the rest of the Gulf States. your lack of understanding basic foreign relations will cost you my vote even if you win the nomination-not that there's much danger of that happening now.

I tend to agree. This is why I am reluctant to support Ron Paul's version of competing currencies. Once the Federal Reserve goes under, he would rid the federal government of the power to coin money. He would make it so any financial institution could print fiat currency, coin gold and silver, or deem anything as tender. Furthermore, any business or corporation could make an object such as coffee mugs, water bottles, etc. a means of payment. We do not need to go back to a barter system.

My approach to competing currencies is more conducive to the American economy. All I would do is privatize the Federal Reserve, no longer insulating the institution. I would then repeal legal tender laws for a designated amount of time. The time period will be determined based upon the Federal Reserve's vunerability. At the same time, I would grant the Treasury the right to coin gold and silver. Let me state that John F. Kennedy started this process in the 1960's with an Executive Order.

The goal is to introduce competing currencies in a regulated fashion. Only the Federal Reserve and Treasury would participate in this market. One entity would provide fiat, the other gold and silver.

If you understand the properties of each type of currency, you know that gold and silver have deflationary properties. They encourage people to save, and when the economy is going well, they uphold a slow but steady level of growth. Fiat currency has inflationary properties. It encourages people to spend, and when the economy is going well, it upholds fast-paced economic growth.

Gold and silver caused many of the recessions and depressions of the 18th and 19th century. In every single one, prices dropped, and growth halted. Fiat currency can be attributed to every single economic bubble, recession, and depression in the 20th century. In each one, speculative or production bubbles popped, and financial assets faltered.

When both types of currencies are utilized and are balanced, you can get the closest thing to a balanced monetary policy. One currency can coutneract the flaws of the other. If they are injected into the economy at the right times, economic stability could drastically increase. Inflation could be alleviated. Maximum spending and saving can be encouraged.

Lastly, this version of competing currencies will show the American public the flaws associated with a central banking institution such as the Federal Reserve. No longer insulated, people will see how it cooperates with the financial sector, and how its currency created what I call "liquid" economic growth rather than real economic growth.

sanctions are an act of war.

If its not a friendly act and its not diplomacy then its an act of war.

Forcing your will on another through the use of force is wrong. Its by no mean freedom.

Removing the IRS and income tax are his goals. This would lower everybody's taxes.

sanctions are not an act of war, they are a refusal of commerce. blockades are an act of war.

if they don't like it, they can withdraw from the NPT.

47% of working Americans don't pay income tax. They pay FICA and excise taxes.

Please explain how Paul's plan of eliminating income taxes, eliminating capital gains taxes, and eliminating investment taxes lowers their taxes.

Furthermore, I know that Ron Paul is an opponent of financial institutions. Therefore, why should capital gains taxes be eliminated? After all, the financial asset called derivatives, which contributed to the financial crisis are capital gains.

they are a refusal of commece through the use of force. And freezing assets is the same as me freezing your bank account but hey you have the option of withdrawing from the bank...without the money of course:sun:

Sanctions also include embargoes. By the way, didn't Thomas Jefferson utilize an embargo during the Napoleonic Wars? If Ron Paul is the closest politician idealogically to the founding fathers, shouldn't he be in favor of utilizing embargoes to maintain nuetrality?

He does not support FICA but does support excise.

That's nice. After he elimates the income tax, the estate tax, investment taxes, FICA taxes, and lowers the corporate tax to 15%, that will give the Govt about $100 billion in revenues.

How is he going to pay for the SS benefits to seniors he promised? Medicare? A defense? Or anything else the govt does?

In his "Plan to Restore America", the income tax is not eliminated. I think the people who formulated his ideas understand the complications of eliminating the income tax better than Dr. Paul.

Honestly I am not sure I have to research that again. I do know that France was the first country we fought after our independence because we signed a treaty with Britain and that upset France. They embargoed the British which included seizing American trading ships. Americans viewed this as an act of war and we fought naval battle with the French for about two years. I don’t think war was declared by congress, I have to look that up as well but war none the less.
Anyone with more knowledge about that please correct me if I am mistaken.

There would be an option to pay for any program you want to. If you like a program you pay however much you want. If you don't support a program you don't pay for it. This adds an extra checks and balance system where the people decide what is allowed and not. If it does not receive enough money to survive then it will fade away. This allows the government to be more directly following the will of the people.

Sorry, I was using a leading question, the answer is yes. Thomas Jefferson implemented the Embargo Act of 1807 in an effort to maintain nuetrality during the Napoleonic Wars.

In that plan he does not, but other places on his website (http://www.ronpaul2012.com/the-issues/taxes/) he does say he wants to remove income tax.
