These abortion laws are going to make women more powerful because they are aware that their voices are being silenced and their bodies are being controlled
I have to laugh that because the woman signed the bill it somehow mean she represents all women. What a ridiculous concept but she is in a minority of women. She also knows that it will never go through and she wants her job

I think that likely. There are women who may be on the fence. They may vote for, say, Trump, feeling Roe protects them. If it doesn't, they'll have to support more mainstream feminist/allies politicians, even if they disagree with them on other issues.

It has a lot to do with how American women who vote might feel about it. Surely you read the post I responded to?

No, again, what does women "believing in babies"" have to do with women's right to their own bodies?

I believe in babies, they exist, I've seen many....

Amen! Taking away, or just supporting the taking of rights from your largest voting bloc is the surest way to see yourself removed from the equation come November, reich-wingers. To the social regressives, I say - BRING IT, BITCHES. Take that final step guaranteed to revive and set the liberal cultural warriors on the march again. Put yourselves in the same trash heap with your past brethren - the homophobes, the Jim Crow anti-miscegenationists, the anti-suffragettes, and other self-righteous, self-serving, self-deluded twatwaffles remembered by history only for how wrong they were, and how humiliating - and final - their ultimate demise was.

From the title, I couldn't tell if the conversation was supposed to be about rowing, or simply wading into the water... It seems an apt metaphor though for those who are discussing unraveling the abortion decision of Roe v Wade....

What liberals never want to discuss about their little social experiment is just how devastating it has been within the AA community. Since 1973, abortion is, and continues to be the NUMBER ONE killer of AAs in this country. And isn't it a remarkable conversation asking liberals why that seems to be important to them.

It's the state's interest in protecting prenatal life that the case addressed, not fetal rights.

I'm pro life but in a very passive way and hope that RvW isn't overturned.

IMO that battle was fought and lost and honestly I think the states activity lately is a bad move, especially Alabama, they have completely gone off the deep end.

yes I saw the title and was so tempted to say that I prefer Row over Wade because the water might be really cold, so boats are better :)

As I mentioned above, i'm not a fan of abortion, but I prefer to stand on the sidelines and let others fight that battle since Obviously they are very passionate on both sides < which I find a bit baffling.

But you are correct, I agree that abortion and gun violence (not mass shootings or assault rifles) have devastated the AA community.

I voted I don't care either way. It is my opinion that you cannot legislate away abortion so protecting it does not matter either. Using authoritarian means of causing social change is a great way of not changing society permanently. Women have to come to the realization that abortion is tragic, uncivilized, and an unnecessary act through cultural change. That means education, support, and positive reinforcement by the community and families. Making abortion illegal is just a great way to make people fight to do it. Instead we want people to not to want to have an abortion.

That isn’t true...more women die in childbirth and complications from pregnancy. Obviously you know very little about abortion. Most women have abortions in the first trimester when it is a very simple procedure. Stop going to these anti-choice sites that make up statistics

If RvW were overturned, the GOP would be made the permanent minority party in the next national election.

I've never felt strongly one way or the other when it comes to abortion. It doesn't make my top 10 list of issues. Although I would prefer to let the woman decide. I don't think government ought to tell a woman what she can do with her own body. This goes with other things also. The government doesn't own it. And yes, I think this will go all the way to the SCOTUS.

You can think what you want about abortion, for or against, but for those who've never read the actual Roe v Wade opinion, it makes no logical sense.

These judges were obviously just looking for any excuses to justify their decision.

What a load of bovine excrement!

RvW was a very carefully rendered decision with a great deal of thought given to ALL aspects of the issue.

That wasn't my opinion reading the opinion. It seemed very contrived, to me.

I think there is a thread somewhere in the Abortion section actually discussing this in more detail.

Been discussing this issue for several decades now and I have seen a great deal of theist disinformation that feebly attempts to discredit the RvW decision. None of it comes from any credible source since it is just those who are nitpicking owing to an abysmal absence of knowledge on how the Law of the Land works.

How can you call a State that allows grown men to marry 12 year olds, off the deep end?

That almost makes it worth overturning RvW.
