Rushdie: free speech under threat from 'religious extremists'

I remember when progressives use to value free speech before everything else, but that was when they were storming the traditional American Christian establishment with their ideas. Now, they have either allied themselves with Islamists against the West or they have become silent out of cowardice and a sense of self-loathing wrapped in a disguise of moral relativism and non-judgmentalism. They will not criticize the radical Muslims screaming for blood. Shame on them.

 

Yes indeed, I have found one liberal that condemns the Obama outrage over free speech, and in this case Kirsten Powers hit the nail on the head. This is the pathetic apology from Obama condemning American free speech makes me sick. And what is amazing, since Obama promised to make the middle east love us with his little cute ass smile, but now he has made them hate us more than twice as much as when Bush was president. Dope and Chains, that is what America got for a leader for the last miserable four years.

In a world that no longer requires a book publisher, a news outlet or a film crew in order to get out a message, Obama and the Muslims had better get a thicker skin. Self publishing, ebooks, youtube and internet websites have trumped all who have had the power to control the message. Why in the world Obama apologizes for that is beyond me. There is a reason why Saddam Hussein was so harsh as a leader. It is the only thing some in his country responded to, pure power. You can't tip toe around the Muslim world saying sorry to everything and expect to be respected. Just because they scream and chant and burn American flags doesn't mean they are Obama's fellow liberals even though the similarity is obvious. Unless they know we mean business they will rise up at the slightest calling and send the weak, aka Obama, scrambling for words because he is not a man of deed.

Liberals dont understand the mentaility, or lack of, of these monsters.
They think you can reason with them, and when you try it, they see it as a weakness and attack.

I have been talking to some people for the last few months and preparing to put one together ourselves. My wife said its dangerous and I and some others talked about how we can make sure it cant be traced back to us because of worry about muslim retaliation,

I had no fear about that, but now Im seriously fearful that when we do it, brown shirted thugs are going to wake me up in the middle of the night and take me to prison.
Now, since it should be easy to link this to terrorism, they can hold me indefinately without charges, without an attorney

So, there's an idea that extremists are ruining freedom of speech. Let's see here, where I can I find examples of someone being an extremist?

Yeah Salman Rushdie is in favor of Christian fundamentalism.

 

I think cowardice and veiled self-loathing accounts for most of them, although some do share the same hatred of the West and Christianity that the Muslims have. Liberal progressives know that Christians won't really fight back, so they continue to trash them. They won't do the same thing to Muslims because Muslims won't take it lying down. They also see Muslims as another potential disenfranchised voting bloc to monopolize.

 

I'm sorry if you think wanting to silence your political opponents translates into using your own words against you, because you happen to post things that aren't true.

 

I'm sorry, was it Rushdie who made this thread, or was it Donglock? Perhaps I'm missing that. And the reason I'm don't have to find someone saying they're extremist, is because I'm looking at actions or perhaps as you might also call it, what was said.

The thread does start with the opinion of Rushdie, not DG.
But that is irrelevant anyways, whoever starts the thread is not responsable for anything else anybody else says, except his own opinion on what others said.

And now to my point. When someone makes a thread, they make, they put the words in. Therefore, he used the words. He said extremists.

 

Easy, I quoted you, saying things that would be considered extremist. So the irony is that on the thread condeming extremists, you said something extreme.

ummm, Im not sure what you mean by that, but it isnt always true. The terrorists have plenty of opportunities to send soldiers over here and fight us face to face,
but on the internet, people basically dont face that option.
and I dont even know if you mean physically go face to face, or in a debate setting, with a winner and loser.
