You are wrong. This was a provoked invasion. This is speech from British politician Nigel Farage in 2014:
US, EU and Ukraine itself did everything their best to promote Putin to start this war.

Patrick Lancaster video from today in Mariupol. First time I've seen the Azovstahl plant, though at a distance. Also, interviews with residents of Mariupol as he follows a small independent group handing out food.

As much as has been talked about the Ukies being bottled up at the plant, they apparently hold a bit more ground than the plant itself and are still shelling civilians and snipers are still picking them off (according to residents). Still a terrible situation there.

Something other that what claims to be or a bad case of disingenuous denial of the obvious :)

"CLEANSED"?????? How barbaric (and Hitlerish) is that???

Only the worst of the worst even think like that. Some Russian "purification" process??? What medieval time are we living in??

That is mostly going to involve buying up ex-Russian or Chinese kit that is compatible with Ukranian training & logistics. There might be a few systems outside that with value - anti-shipping missiles for example - but mostly the big stuff needs to be able to slot in immediately.

Longer term I'm hoping Ukraine gets access to a bunch of NATO compatible kit that will make any Russian attempt at a rerun even more costly.

It really does give a sense of what the Puinistas are like. They are positively excited by the possibility of mass murder.

By the time the M1s are combat ready, the Ukranians trained & the logistics systems set up the war will have been decided. M1s are murder on logistics trains. Better off giving them stuff they can literally drive off the rail car into battle.

Same with artillery. They need stuff with the same calibre as their existing guns.

After the war will be a different issue.

I actually looking forward to holding Jeanette accountable for her 'timeline' re; the fall of Odessa's (2 weeks) and the cauldron of fire blah, blah, blah that's going apparently to engulf Ukrainian forces in the South of the country. Mind you this is the same person who has absolute confidence in Russia's ability to start the commercial fabrication of computer chips in 3 months!

....and was claiming that Zelensky left Kyiv weeks ago and that the giant Russian convoy north of Kyiv was taking food to the people there because al lthe food in Kyiv had been looted by the citizens there....and SO much more.

You will never get a straight out admission she was wrong, just more propaganda.

You would be surprised. The USSR sold SO MUCH stuff during the Cold War. There are arguably enough tanks in former WARPAC nations now in NATO to see Ukraine through this war. There is also Chinese kit, which was for a while just straight out copies of Russian stuff. It would be quicker to bolt some ERA & a few other upgrades in that stuff then getting a bunch of M1s out of storage & combat ready.

To add to BF's response, at a rough estimate Poland and other former Eastern block countries have approximately 700 T-72s in their armories. The bulk of them modernized with western targeting systems etc since they joined NATO. Biden has already agreed to transfer modernized Polish T-72s to Ukraine (presumably doing a 'swap' with Poland for some revamped M-1s in the process). Presumably other T-72's will follow as and when required.

And if, as all the Putin loving scum bags on this forum insist Russia is digging in for a 'long war' then fine. That only gives NATO more time to start transferring modern NATO weapons to Ukraine and of course train the Ukrainians how to use them. And of course more time for the sanctions to bite.

The longer this illegal war drags on, the worse it looks for Putin, his bonzes and the entire Russian population.

I give it less than 45 days from today (around May 20th, 2022) before the entire Russian economy literally implodes to the point of no return. Not only will the rubel be completely worthless, it won't be accepted anywhere.

And with no money, you can't resupply and refuel for a war. The russian army has proven up to this point in time that it was ill-supplied to begin with.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainians are alive and well and more furious than ever after the beginning of the war crimes (see: Bucha - for a start) are starting to come to light. The Ukrainians will never forgive and they will never forget. And neither will the decent, democracy-loving people of the world.

Russia has sealed its own grave with this illegal war and will pay the highest of prices for it when all is said and done.

You can feel free to quote me on that.

If the US offers cut price M1s/Bradleys complete with spare parts, training etc in exchange for T-72s Poland & Czechia won't be the last nations handing over old WARPAC kit. Additionally, there are a lot of Marders & Leo2s knocking around in Germany & other NATO nations that could be used in similar deals.

In time some of this stuff may indeed end up re-arming Ukraine, but in the short term its best use is as a way to get Ukraine stuff it can easily use.

By bringing NATO structures closer to the Russian border, you are bringing your own stupid death closer. Russian generals have very little time to distinguish a real attack from, say, a meteor shower. Therefore, all NATO members can be destroyed due to a mistake.
