    I taught school for years and had an administrator in the 19700s who fancied himself a "socialist." We used to get into discussions and he would defend socialism and the Soviet Union. Well, he visited his relatives in Poland for a month one summer. After he came back, he told me how bad it was for his family and that he was no longer a socialist.

    Yes....once one had a taste of the former SU and WP....and it's backward barbarity, minds change quickly.


    "Socialism" was a great thing.....for everyone else, except the socialists themselves:)).

    It's surprising how many supporters one finds yet for a failed philosophy&ideology.....misery seems to like company?!?:((.

    I would, too! At that time, in 1945, we had heard horrible stories from the front as well as from East Prussia. BUT... I also heard yesterday from my friend, she had heard from an aunt who spoke Russian, that the first Russian soldiers, the disciplined fighters, told them to run or hide, because they couldn't guarantee that those coming behind them would be civil. g after them
    Nationalsocialism in Germany under Hitler was by no means a failed ideology! It was the best in the world. That's why it was not allowed to spread. The big elites, the money Bonzen feared for their hides.

    They're the sort who tailor what they see to their opinion rather than the other way around.

    I wasnt talking about germany....thatstha different kettle of fish....I referred to the failed philosophy of the SU.

    Fascism is typically a reaction to a failed or failing capitalist or socialist economy. It may improve a failing economy in the shorter term, but it isn't a long-term solution for society.
