The American left didn't switch their votes, nobody ever accused them of that.

This is the issue in the global web world. And it's not just Russia: Any country can promote its interests abroad. Which has made this Russian bot thing absolutely ridiculous. So, what are they going to do? Will the internet fundamentally evolve into countries? ISPs can only access websites under the domain of their country?(American, Russian, Chinese, etc.) Because that's REALLY the only way you're going to stop this.

You can't have it both ways. You can't be pro-Globalist, yet want to shut off the free internet.

If they're sincere and want to fix the issue without promoting any sort of divisiveness, they would equip FB, Twitter, etc with a personal verification.(Some websites do this, Pornhub as an example.). If every social media outlet had a personal verification, then those with that verification are indeed who they are and those who aren't, well aren't.

The internet that we know today, the WWW came into being back in 1995 with the Windows operating system.

Back then the only people making money on the internet were the porn websites.

By 1996 we were warned that nobody is in control of the internet. There are no regulations, anything goes.

How many emails have you gotten over the past twenty years from some general in some shithole country like Nigeria informing you that there's a chest full of $500 million dollars that belongs to you ? Should we send in 1,200 U.S. Marines to take down this scammer or maybe use a Predator UAV armed with a Hellfire missile.

The internet was created during the early 1970's by DARPA for the U.S. military in particular for the U.S. Air Force.

Same can be said if there was never a Cold War there would be no internet today since the internet purpose was for a nuclear exchange between the USA and the USSR.

Watched two old geezers on C-Span some years ago who were on the DARPA team that invented the internet. They were asked a question and in hindsight both said the U.S. military should have kept the internet classified and never allowed the private sector becoming involved in the internet.

The internet has dumbed down society and billions of people in the world are less informed or misinformed today.
