I've never, not once, heard a liberal say the term white privilege is racist, but the china virus is. Don't you think it's odd that a term used to identify a region is racist, yet a derogatory term aimed at a specific race is not?

 

What's wrong with the actual journalism? The article I linked only quoted the resolution and the Mayor who brought it directly? If you think there is stupidity, it is with the council, not the article? Don't shoot the messenger.

Nobody. The article (and the resolution) doesn't refer to a Chinese race at all, it claims that the terms encourage hate crimes against Asians. The reference to Jews and anti-Semitism was separate, referring to unspecified conspiracy theories targeting them.

I actually don't see the resolution as being a good idea, an empty gesture that will achieve nothing at worst and ignorant knee-jerk reactions at worst (as this thread demonstrates). That's no reason to lie or misrepresent the simple facts as they're reported though (which is why I linked the neutral article with the actual text of the resolution, in response to the reactionary tweet quoted in the OP).
